News seems to indicate that the opposition has won the election. votes for them 266,000, votes for Jammeh 221,000. Lets see whether he concedes graciously. I also read that the total number of people eligible to vote was 880,000. if true it would mean that nearly half those people did not or could not cast a vote.

Thanks Rassimian. I found it in the papers, too. Congratulations to the Gambian people. Let us hope that the handover goes peacefully, and that the result also means that all political prisoners will now be free.

Just a quick update. Votes for Adama Barrow 263,515. Votes for Jammeh 212,099. How accurate these figures are may be open to scrutiny but in terms of numbers it is a clear victory for Barrow. Now we await how things are going to be different, hopefully better.
