COULD THE GAMBIA GOVERNMENT INFORM THE PUBLIC THE EVIDENCE IT HAS TO INVITE THE ICC ON THE PLIGHT OF BACKWAY MIGRANTS
Foroyaa Editorial: Published on June 11, 2015

Foroyaa has been trying to get evidence of the reports the Gambia Government has received regarding the plight of migrants as they cross the Mediterranean to go to Europe which warranted the calling on the ICC to conduct investigation.

The report Foroyaa has received is that Gambians have been subjected to robbery, imprisonment, torture and blackmail by all sorts of forces in Libya with appeals for the government to intervene to save them. We had expected that the Government would appeal to the UN to help facilitate the return of such desperate Gambians who had a change of heart.

Families may appeal to Foroyaa for publicity should their love ones be in the same situation as had been reported to Foroyaa. We would then engage the Government on the question of repatriation.

We hope the Government would call a press conference to give its evidence.

I am sure all Gambians would welcome such a move.
