I am a bit confused by the wording of the snippet below ,as I understand it the defendant has been granted bail in his own recognisance and one surety until 1st September to appear before the Court for hearing of the case against him.

Legal Eagles on Bantaba in Cyberspace please clarify for me, and probably many other readers as well I expect.

SNIPPET:

"He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the prosecutor, the accused was convicted and sentenced to keep the peace for a period of five years and was bailed by one surety.

The case continues 1 September 2014,for hearing. "
