Kaan,I don't intend to join in with you ,kisley,and Sister O, but to have a discussion on the subject that you are discussing without PERSONAL criticism intervening would be good,everybody must be entitled to their own views and opinions and be able to express them freely.
I do note your comments regarding "jammeh hotel".
Being a man who loves words you understand ,remember the time here when conflict discussion took place?, thankfully that format has now left bantaba in cyberspace.

Anyway the small tiny group of dissenters were able to stop him from attending most if not all the ceremonies that he went for so I consider that a victory for their purposes. Palestine has been brought to the world's attention, where as Gambia is a tiny country in Africa, which i am afraid a lot of people have never even heard of...so we need to put that into context don't you think.
Plus North America is a massive country, and travelling to washington to protest would not only been very time consuming but very expensive. It's not like The Uk, where it would take me about an hour on a plane to get to london, and be there and back in the same day.
Also people could be genuinley scared that their families in Gambia could be put at risk by their actions.
Good on these people though, i aint gonna pour cold water on their actions.

How many Gambians took to the street to protest about Gambia in Washington DC? By the look of the crowd very few.
You can fool some people some times but you can't fool the people all of the time.
Surely if there is so much opposition against Jammeh more people would of bothered to turn out to join the crowd? The numbers were so low that the protests only managed to make news on the bantabaa.
More people have shown up across the world to protest against the Israeli attacks on Gaza, Putting Gambians dislike of Jammeh into proportion. Don't you think? |

Amazing zeal and what an effective way to show the despot that he cannot control us both at home and abroad. Let loose; we showed him what we can do and exposed his jittery side to all. Without his soldiers around him to bully the protestors, he became impotent and went into hiding in his hotel room. If he was man enough he would have braved the crowd and a tiny one at that and even face the eggs which an eleven year asked " why is Yaya afraid of eggs?" That is child's play compared to the bullets he has in his armoury to mow down defenceless citizens. Naked and impotent he sat it out till the American security gave him an escape from a simple protest group to get a dream photo shoot with Obama the mighty one . Obama with the atomic power who though so powerful does not threaten his country folks with force or might but talks to them with much respect. Perhaps he was told that Gambians will only rally behind him if he forced them and treats them as **** . I congratulate the protestors and say bravo for exposing Yaya's nakedness to the whole world. I guess he; in his quiet moments would say " had I known I won't take this evil route perhaps then , my people would honour me both at home and abroad "perhaps that too is very late now as so much water has passed under that bridge and one can only hope all this ends well for our country..amen |
