Interesting, I have a Gambian friend who attended the SSFC offices and applied for repayment of his contributions from his employment,he is now of pension age and his contributions are shown on the SSFC computer database,these contributions were made by foreign companies who were doing outside funded work in Gambia.
He was told by an employee of SSFC that he must join a long list of those awaiting payment of their dues in some cases he said periods over two years,when my friend enquired the reason for the payment delay the reply was NO MONEY.Have the accounts of the SSFC been audited ever ?

 Ex—Gambian Diplomat Frowns At Youssou N’dour

(JollofNews) – A former Gambian chief diplomat and ambassador to Senegal, Sidi Sanneh, has accused Grammy award winning singer Youssou N’dour of ignoring the plight of his Gambian brethren who are being tortured, maimed, killed and exiled by the APRC government of President Yahya Jammeh.
The singer is playing three sell-out concerts in the Gambia on April 18th, 19th and 20th organised by the Gambia's Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC) worth D3 million.
In an interview with JollofNew’s Abdoulie John, Mr Sanneh said he is disappointed that Youssou N’dour has decided to ignore the calls made by Senegal's Y'en a Marre Movement and the US-based Democratic Union of Gambian Activists (DUGA) not to proceed with his Banjul engagements.

JollofNews: Media reports suggest that Youssou N’dour is already in Gambia despite repeated calls made by campaigners not 'to condone and endorse dictatorship.' What do you make of the Senegalese music star's refusal to honour these calls?
Sidi Sanneh: I really feel disappointed that Youssou N’dour has decided to ignore the calls made by DUGA not to proceed with his Banjul engagements. If Youssou N’dour refuses to play concerts in the US in protest over the invasion in Iraq, he should have done the same, in solidarity with his Gambian brethren who are being tortured, maimed, killed and exiled.
JollofNews: Reports also have it that on Wednesday Youssou N’dour met with the Gambian leader as President Macky Sall's emissary. Could this be seen as a disturbing development?
Sidi Sanneh: I don't know if I would characterise Youssou N’dour's acting as emissary of President Macky Sall as disturbing. It is nonetheless, a public relation disaster which may not be good for the Senegalese musician when you consider that Banjul is a huge market for Senegalese music and where he is hugely popular.
JollofNews: What impression do you think Youssou N’dour is conveying to DUGA and Y'en a Marre?
Sidi Sanneh: The impression he is leaving in the wake of his visit, needless to say, not a good one, not only for the two civic organisations, but for Senegambians everywhere.
JollofNews: Why do you think that proceeds from the concerts would not be used to benefit Gambians?
Sidi Sanneh: This is the area I have concentrated my efforts – the appropriateness of SSHFC, using public funds to stage a private function, to generate resources for the sole purpose of financing a private foundation. It is illegal but unfortunately, we live in a dictatorship where the dictator is the law. The act contravenes the Act establishing SSHFC. Jammeh, of course, knows no better. Finally, I am in the final stages of first part of the story of the Gambia Public Transport Corporation (GPTC) which will deal, in part, with how Social Security funds are misapplied in the transport sector as well.

SSHFC workers funds are blood/sweat money that should be properly safeguarded and put to good use; for ex-employees pensions and providence. It is morally wrong to use SSHFC funds to finance Youssou Ndure's D3M mega concert; under the President's name to justify an illegal contract, misappropriation and abuse of power. |

1. I don't know current auditors but for over decades Augustus Prom were the exclusive Auditors but normally tendered by The Auditor General Office, who review Management letter for report to Joint Public Accounts Committee/Private Enterprises Committee at National Assembly.
2. REASONS FOR NO MONEY LISTED BELOW BETWEEN 2011 - 2014
. SSHFC surplus decreased to D18M in 2011 but I observed and questioned where is the D40 million + Net Surplus between 2010 and 2011 ( D59, 295, 000 - D18, 319, 000= D40,976,000) wiped out from SSHFC or spent/invested in the cash flow statement in space of one financial year?
. Foroyaa reported that "SSHFC (2011) REPORT TRIGGERS CONTROVERSY AT NATIONAL ASSEMBLY", which uncovered "a loan of billions and running with overdrafts." by former Auditor General as quoted "The Auditor General, Mr. Abubacarr Sankareh, pointed out that the Minutes of the last Investment Committee meetings were not signed. He argued that the Corporation cannot have a loan of billions and running with overdrafts. He further argued that the external auditors' statement cannot be in contradiction with the management letter because they have no evidence to support their argument." No wonder Mr. Abubacarr Sankareh fired in that year, for exposing massive mismanagement and government misappropriations.
