1. Fagbenle replaces Agyemang as new Judiciary chief
Friday, 07 February 2014 The president of the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya AJJ Jammeh, acting in accordance with the relevant provisions of the constitution of the Republic has relieved Justice Mabel Agyemang of her appointment as chief Justice and replaced her with Justice Emmanuel O. Fagbenle as acting head of the Judiciary, a press release from the presidency has announced Thursday evening.
“The General Public is hereby informed that His Excellency, the President of the Republic of The Gambia, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya AJJ Jammeh, acting under the Provisions of Section 141 subsection 2 © has with effect from Monday 3rd February 2014 relieved Justice Mabel Agyemang of her appointment as Chief Justice of the Republic of The Gambia.
The General Public is further informed that His Excellency, the President Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya AJJ Jammeh, acting under the powers vested in him under section 140 of the Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia has appointed Justice Emmanuel O. Fagbenle as Acting Chief Justice of the Republic of The Gambia with effect from 4th February 2014,” it concluded.

Justice Emmanuel O Fagbenle has been appointed as acting Chief Justice of The Gambia with effect from Tuesday 4th February 2014, the presidency announced in a statement yesterday.
Nigerian-born Fagbenle who once served as Director of Public Prosecutions and Court of Appeal Judge, will now take over from Justice Mabel Yamoa Agyemang, who was relieved of her appointment effective Monday 3rd February 2014.....
