| "...from his salary". Very exemplary; and not that I am surprised. I know these guys. I know them, and only them will do something so extra-ordinary like that. |

Kay, the article talked about only one person, sedia Jatta.I don't know what you mean when you said '' I know these guys''. This kind of initiative did not happen in Serrekunda Central when ''Lang Sambujang'' was serving there as a member of parliament.

If you know the guy who accidentally served as MP for Serrekunda Central from 2002-2007, then you defininately know who Lang Sambujang is . By the way, can you tell us what you mean when you said ''I know these guys'' because as far as this statement is concern, it only talks about one person, and he is Sedia jatta.
Thanks |

Okay let us assume that by "Lang Sambujang", you mean Halifa Sallah. Halifa's win in S/K Central (2002-2007) was well contested and well earned. His tenure in the National Assembly was a period of nightmare for the ruling APRC, which later mobilized as much state resources, patronage and intimidation of voters, as they could just to ensure that he lost that seat. Even Jammeh publicly gave a sigh of relief after Halifa's loss of the seat... To come back to your question; what I mean by "I know these guys" is that I actually know Sedia (and his associates Sam and Halifa). I know that the story is about only Sedia, but I am saying that Sam and Halifa who share similar world views with Sedia are equally capable of doing the same. Sam never served as a memeber of parliament, and Halifa's short tenure, just 5 years compared to Sedia's several terms in the National Assembly, was perhaps too brief for maturation of any plans to launch such projects in S/K Central constituency. While some presidential candidates are at their best only when celebrating their birthday and similar pomp, and avoid all situations of danger and sacrifice, it is only people like Sedia and his kind (Sam and Halifa) who use their personal salaries as a development fund for the public. That is what I was talking about. |

5yrs not enough to serve constituents but enough to create hell for the government; what a irony
The credit for this project wholly and solely belongs to Sedia and any attempt to associate anyone else to it is despicable. Lang Sambujang cannot be allowed to strive on the fruit of others labour.
Thanks

Nyari, do not get me wrong. I am not giving away Sedia's glory to Halifa. I am just acknowledging Sedia's wonderful job in the context of his world view he shares with his colleagues, Sam and Halifa. These three people have always stood together consistently in principle and vision; and I have no doubt that given time and similar circumstances any one of them will do something similar... But I have to further say that it is sad that a National Assembly member should even find a need so utilize his personal salary (and Sedia is not a rich person, he should be able to use his salary to live a wonderful life for himself. He deserves it) as a development fund for his constituency. It is a huge sacrifice that should not have been necessary. The Gambia govt should allocate a development fund for each district and constituency without regards to politcal affiliation... |
