Very interesting, I wonder when the LAST ELECTION OF LOCAL COUNCILORS WAS ?
Am I wrong or have such problems that have now been exposed in the Media been common knowledge for some time.
I wonder if a Commision to investigate the BAC will now be iniated or any IMMIDIATE ACTION be taken.Lets just wait and see.

At least 30 out of 38 councilors of the Brikama Area Council have passed a resolution demanding ‘compulsory retirement or removal’ of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Councilors accused Mamsait Jallow of maladministration, abuse of office and misconduct.
They have also signed a letter addressed to the minister of Local Government, Lands and Regional Administration demanding the removal of the CEO.
“We the undersigned councilors of Brikama Area Council, acting within the powers of Local Government Act 2002 and Local Government Finance and Audit Act 2004, hereby resolved to pass compulsory retirement/ removal of the BAC CEO with immediate effect,” a resolution stated.
A source that spoke to The Point on the condition of anonymity, said since they were sworn in as councilors, they have noticed regular maladministration affecting the functions and regulatory policies of the council.
“Under the prevailing circumstances, our progresses, aims and objectives of the most desired development agenda of West Coast Region cannot b achieved,” our source said.
According to councilors, the Local Government Finance and Audit (LGFA)-2004, Section 18 (1) (2) (3) (4), it is clear that the CEO had never followed the procedures since they were sworn in as councilors. These, they said included the purchase of generators, BAC’s 3 pick-ups, general office furniture and borehole pumping machine among others.
The councilors also accused the CEO of irregularities in the maintenance of BAC 2, BAC 1, which they said exceeded D500, 000.00 (five hundred thousand dalasis) and unfounded allocation of fuel from Petro Gas for grounded and unofficial vehicles.
The BAC councilors also cited the LGA 2002, page 52, Section 86 (a) Section 87 (b), which indicates standing orders with respect to contract. “It was discovered that there were instances where contracts were awarded without consultation of council’s contract committee and to mention a few such as access road between Brikama Football Field and Vetinirary department.”
CEO Mamsait Jallow, when contacted by our reporter to comment on the matter declined, saying he had already responded to the allegation level against him by the councilors through the Ministry of Local Government.
In a letter addressed to PS of the Lands Ministry and sighted by The Point, CEO Jallow said; “there was no legal or administrative requirement mandatory” for him to hand over his official vehicle to any particular senior staff including the director of Finance when he travels out of the country.
CEO Jallow said the contracts committee had since been constituted and become functional accordingly. He said he was not aware of any contract that was awarded single handedly by any of them as a member of the committee as claimed. “The road mentioned was awarded by the contracts committee accordingly.”
“Unfortunately, the other issues raised in relation to the maintenance of BAC 1 & BAC 2 are necessary in order to maintain the vehicles as required and the expenditure was within the budget limits,” he declared, adding that he was ready for any investigation.
The Ministry of Local Government has also responded to the resolution of the councilors of BAC in a letter addressed to the deputy chairman of the BAC and copied to the regional governor and the council’s CEO.
“Hence, your attention is hereby called on the above abnormalities and advices to look into them to enable this office to appropriately and officially take further necessary action.”
