INVITATION TO A PRESS CONFERENCE

The Sole Survivor of the 2005 Migrant Massacre Returns to Gambia

In July 2005, the Junglers, a paramilitary unit controlled by then Gambian president Yahya Jammeh summarily executed over 50 West African migrants and one Gambian.
The Campaign to Bring Yahya Jammeh and his Accomplices to Justice (#Jammeh2Justice) Human Rights Watch, TRIAL International and the Gambia Center for Victims of Human Rights Violations (Victims’ Center) investigated the case and released a report in May 2018.
Today they have the pleasure to invite you to a press conference to hear Martin Kyere of Ghana, the sole survivor of the massacre and to discuss efforts underway to have this crime prosecuted in Ghana. This will be Martin Kyere’s first return to Gambia since 2005.

Date: Saturday, 27 October 2018

Time: 11H00

Venue: TANGO Conference room

Speakers:

- Martin Kyere, Survivor of the 2005 massacre
- Adama Conteh: Widow of Lamin Tunkara, the Gambian national killed along with the migrants
- Ayesha Jammeh, Gambia Center for Victims of Human Rights Violations
