New Justice Minister reports for duty
By Bruce Asemota

The Point: Wednesday, February 08, 2017

The newly-appointed Attorney General and minister of Justice, Ba Tambadou, yesterday reported for work at his office at Marina Parade, Banjul.

The minister, who immediately started work after he was sworn in, held a meeting with the staff at his ministry.

When this reporter visited the Attorney General Chambers and Ministry of Justice yesterday, he was reliably informed that the Minister was having a meeting with the staff, which started around 3:00pm.

Ba Tambadou once worked at the Justice Ministry in the early 90s with former Justice ministers Sheikh Tijan Hydara and Mama Fatima Singhateh, lawyers Lamin S. Camara, Omar Jawara, Edrissa Sisoho, Dr Henry Carrol, and Justice Awa Bah, now a Court of Appeal judge.

Ba Tambadou, a lawyer, left the Justice ministry for an international appointment at the Arusha-based International Criminal Court in Tanzania.

Observers have described the newly-appointed Attorney General and Minister of Justice as “one of the able and patriotic Gambians”, who have heeded the call to build a better Gambia for all by the coalition government led by President Adama Barrow.

This Gambian lawyer has an impressive career record according to the Point newspaper and unnamed "Observers" who, " have described the newly-appointed Attorney General and Minister of Justice as “one of the able and patriotic Gambians”, who have heeded the call to build a better Gambia for all by the coalition government led by President Adama Barrow."

Being a Gambian he TOTALLY understands Gambian culture.

I wish him all the best in his new appointment.
