Muhammed S. Bah & Abdoulai G.Dibba Foroyaa: January 24, 2017 http://www.foroyaa.gm/archives/14045
Upon confirmation from Amdallai/Karang, Kerr Ali/ Kerr Ayib, Giboro/ Selliti and Soma\Senoba, the ECOMIG Soldiers who were stationed at the border between the Gambia and Senegal have entered Gambian soil on Sunday, 22 January, 2017.
However, information gathered from the military quarters revealed that ECOMIG Soldiers have disarmed the soldiers in Farafenni, Riverside Camp at Bintang Bolong and the state guards stationed at the state house in Banjul and Kanilai.
At State House, it was observed that the ECOWAS troops have taken over State House and surrounded it at both the back and front as far as the beach side.
Most of these soldiers are deployed in the state house. The Gambian troops however are also seen at the gate of the statehouse standing side by side with the ECOWAS troops.
With regard to Yundum and Fajara Barracks, sources revealed that even though the ECOMIG Soldiers are present there, the soldiers are continuing with their normal routine.
Two vehicles are also at the Denton Bridge, the main entrance of the city of Banjul.
On Monday morning Banjulians were seen cheering up the ECOWAS troops some even took pictures with these soldiers.

The ECOWAS troops in The Gambia
Foroyaa Editorial: January 24, 2017
http://www.foroyaa.gm/archives/14057#more-14057
The presence of ECOWAS troops in The Gambia requires proper coordination if conflict is to be averted.
Since day one the Coalition leadership has informed the Gambian people that their objective is to build one Gambia, One nation and One people. Hence, the ECOWAS forces should also be the ambassadors of a united sub-region aiming to safeguard the collective sovereignty, interest and aspirations of the people in the sub-region.
The Gambian people are watching very closely to see how the soldiers from different countries could demonstrate their maturity and commitment to an integrated sub-region and continent.
Whilst in The Gambia, they must give full respect to the men and women in uniform they find on the ground; prove that they are here to give solidarity so that the Gambian people will gain assurance that they are part and parcel of the people of the sub-region and that soldiers of the sub-region are determined to defend their democratic rights to participate in elections and elect a president based on the power of consent.
