Gambians went to the polls on December 1st 2016 and decided; but the incumbent outgoing president Jammeh after giving it a second thought decided to refuse the results and said he will resort to the Courts. However the Supreme court is not in order and that it did not have the required number of judges to sit over any case; but the government of the Gambia said they will hire judges from Sierra Leone and Nigeria to have the Court complete. These judges up to going to press have not arrived in the country yet and not to talk of commissioning them for the job. What am trying to say is they needed to be employed and sworn in before they can take their seats at the Supreme Courts. The APRC were in one of the local radio and the National television calling for a large turnout of party militants at the Courts but it seem they will be at a Court that will never be; so the APRC is therefore fighting a lost battle. The other interesting thing being rumored is that the Chief Justice of the Gambia who is also part of the Supreme Court is nowhere to be seen. If that is anything to go-by then it’s even clearer that the option of a court is out of it. The social media is also having it that the country’s Information minister and proprietor of the Standard newspaper Sheriff Bojang Snr has fled the country and in Dakar. The APRC government is by every second losing the grip on the mantle of leadership. Earlier more than 13 Gambian Ambassadors in different countries and organization have resigned and asked the outgoing president to step down and give way to President elect Adama Barrow. January 19 2017 is getting closer and closer by every minutes and the looming political crisis is as well coming closer by every minutes. The ECOWAS/AU/UN all said outgoing president must give way to president elect Adama Barrow comes 19th January 2017. We are only 10 days away from that date.
