Building The New Gambia
The Imbecility of Yankuba Kolley
For the sake of the Gambia, I will be blunt and direct!
If there is a citizen who is an embodiment of ignorance and dishonesty, look no further than Yankuba Kolley, the buffoon Mayor of KMC and the Chief Criminal Mobilizer of the APRC cartel. Speaking to WADR Radio on December 29, without shame or fear Yankuba Kolley said he is not aware of the Internet and telephony shutdown on December 1. He is also not aware of the divine counseling that Bishop Faal-Heim gave to Yaya Jammeh to step down. Mayor Kolley further said that he is not aware that communities and individuals as well as associations have spoken out against Yaya Jammeh to step down and visited Adama Barrow to show their support for the election. Mr. Kolley had the audacity to even lie blatantly that he does not read Gambian newspapers because he said they are opposition sympathizers. He did not even care to acknowledge at least there is an APRC propaganda mouthpiece called the Daily Observer on which he is always on the front page. What is even more painful is to hear Yankuba Kolley claim that APRC militants were beaten, their t-****s torn on them and denied to vote by opposition members yet Yaya Jammeh still advised him to tell the militants to remain calm and not to react! What a lie!
Why is Yankuba Kolley doing this to the people of the Gambia? Here is a nonentity who has no use in life only to be pulled from the gutter to lead the most stinking campaign of lies and calumny in the history of our country. Thanks to Yaya Jammeh, this buffoon was installed as the Major of the biggest city of the Gambia only to turn the city council into the headquarters of the APRC. Under his mayorship, Yankuba has led the most corrupt and misuse of public funds to perpetuate the torture, rape and killing of Gambians citizens under the brutal tyranny of Yaya Jammeh. Under his mayorship, Yankuba has succeeded in nothing other than prostituting our young girls and women, while stealing public funds from our markets and car parks for the selfish interest of himself and the APRC.
Does Yankuba Kolley think of Gambians as donkeys and goats that he would speak about the Gambia as if we are imbeciles? Let us remind Yankuba Kolley that under his watch KMC has not offered any tangible public goods or services to the community. We know that the roads that were constructed in Ebo Town, Talinding and Latri Kunda Buffer zone are not only of the poorest quality but they have become the major source of flooding for those communities. These were projects that Yankuba Kolley had used to siphon off millions of dalasi hence their poor quality. We also know that KMC has signed a multimillion dalasi contract for the refill and reconstruction of the Kotu Quarry yet for many years nothing is done in that festering place. The Kotu Quarry continues to be the country’s No. 1 public health hazard, releasing dangerous fumes and obnoxious stench into the communities of Bakoteh, Sukuta, Sancha Sulay Jobe, Dippa Kunda, and London Corner and beyond everyday. Many residents, young and old have developed respiratory illnesses because of the dumpsite. We know that KMC collects millions of dalasi from the Serre Kunda market and other markets and the car parks yet these pubic places lack basic facilities. Meanwhile the Kanifing Municipality is one of the dirtiest settlements in the world with a completely broken down cleansing service that individuals have to resort to private firms to keep their homes clean. Where is the revenue that the KMC collects from residents and businesses? Under his mayorship, Yankuba Kolley has never publicly displayed the budget (revenue and expenditure) of the KMC as required by the Local Government Act. Yet Yankuba Kolley has the audacity to speak to Gambians as if we are donkeys who have no sense of dignity.
Let us remind Yankuba Kolley that APRC is a criminal regime, which has directly and severely tortured, raped, forcefully disappeared and killed Gambian citizens including their political opponents. How could Yankuba Kolley tell Gambians that Yaya Jammeh and the APRC regime are peaceful and decent when he very well knows it was his regime that massacred dozens of school children in 2000? Is Yankuba trying to tell us that he is not aware of the enforced disappearance and killing of UDP’s Kanyiba Kanyi since 2006? Is Yankuba Kolley telling us that he is not aware of the wave of arrests of old men and women in the whole of Foni by his regime for being witches in 2009? Dozens of elders from Foni were forced to drink poisonous concoctions after many days of detention that many died after that encounter. Was Halifa Sallah not arrested for merely pursuing those cases? Yet Yankuba Kolley has the guts to face the Gambia to speak about APRC being attacked or that Yaya Jammeh is a good man? Where has Yaya Jammeh or APRC ever done any good in the Gambia? If it is the UTG or GRTS or Farafeni or Bwiam hospitals he is thinking about, let us tell Yankuba Kolley that the people of the Gambia funded those public facilities. Yet Yaya Jammeh has personalized the UTG and GRTS while denying Farafeni and Bwiam hospitals all the necessary drugs and equipment they need.
Yankuba Kolley may speak bad about IEC today, but let him not forget that it was Yaya Jammeh and the APRC led by himself as the chief campaigner that have used public resources for their electioneering purpose contrary to the IEC Code of Campaign Ethics. APRC has always taken advantage of their control of the IEC since 1996 to ensure their unfair electoral victories. Since 1996, APRC has been notorious for severe electoral malpractices that have attracted the attention and disapproval of all stakeholders in and out of the country. How many times have Yaya Jammeh and APRC illegally hired and fired IEC and PIEC chairpersons since 1996? Yet Yankuba Kolley insults us by telling us that APRC has been law abiding and peaceful. Yaya Jammeh and Yankuba Kolley and the APRC machinery have been the most immoral criminals ever produced in the Gambia and Yankuba Kolley knows that. The evidence of their criminality is so glaring that right now Yaya Jammeh is afraid to step down for fear of facing accountability and justice. You reap what you sow!
APRC under Yaya Jammeh and Yankuba Kolley has led the worst and the most immoral and tribalist politics in the history of the Gambia. This is the party, which has divided Gambian families, communities and institutions on the basis of tribalism never known in the history of our country. Yaya Jammeh and Yankuba Kolley have jointly perpetuated so much tribal and religious bigotry in our country that if it were not for the maturity of our people, this country would have dropped into a fratricidal genocide that would have surpassed Rwanda. Yet, instead of being remorseful and seeking the forgiveness of Gambians, Yankuba Kolley decides to insult Gambians once more by telling us that Yaya Jammeh and the APRC have the interest of the Gambia at heart. Such a statement is scandalous and criminal especially coming from an imbecile like Yankuba Kolley.
Yankuba Kolley must be reminded that he faces justice sooner or later for abuse of office. He faces justice for corruption and plunder of public wealth and denial of public goods and services to KMC residents. He faces justice for politicizing the KMC contrary to the Local Government Act. He faces justice for illegally harassing his members of staff who do not support APRC. He faces justice for fomenting tribalism, religious intolerance and discrimination in our society. He faces justice for aiding and abetting a criminal dictator. Yankuba Kolley faces justice for entrenching a criminal regime that has purposely and systematically raped, tortured and killed Gambian citizens, while embezzling public funds with impunity.
Indeed some human beings are so pathetic that even Allah would not redeem them. One of them is the despicable Yankuba Kolley of Bundung.
