Banjul Mayor assures President-elect of his support and solidarity

The Mayor of Banjul, Abdoulie Bah, at the weekend, paid a courtesy call on President-elect Adama Barrow and assured him of his support and solidarity.

He said the main reason of his visit was to assure President-elect Barrow that Banjulians are behind him, and that he is their President and they also respect the verdict of the people just as the rest of the Gambian people.

He added that the will of the people is the will of God; therefore, it should be respected and accepted as the final verdict, so that peace and stability could prevail in “our beloved country”, for which we are known.

The Banjul Mayor further said outgoing President Yahya Jammeh and President-elect Barrow should discuss the issue and the way forward in the interest of the Gambian people, so there will be a smooth transfer of power, come January 19.

He made it clear that he is not an APRC supporter; he is an independent candidate since he became Mayor of Banjul in 2013. He is, therefore, calling for a peaceful transfer of power in the interest of the nation.

A clear conscience fears no accusation - proverb from Sierra Leone
