Foroyaa: Published on April 12, 2016
The Taranga FM Manager, Alhagie Abdoulie Ceesay, who is remanded in custody, was seen being whisked away from the EdwardAlhaji Abdoulie Ceesay, Manager Teranga FM Francis Small Teaching Hospital late on Monday evening 11 April 2016.
According to family members and eye witnesses, the sick journalist was seen being carried on a trolley from the accident and emergency ward at EFSTH to a waiting prison vehicle before being whisked away to an unknown destination.
Foroyaa had received information earlier on Monday that the embattled journalist who has been ill for some days now was taken to RVTH for treatment. Family members describe him as very sick. They complain that they were not allowed to see him in the latter part of the day.
The Taranga FM Managing Director is facing trial on charges of false news and sedition relating to a text message connected to the president purportedly sent from his cell phone. He was arrested in July 2015 and all applications for bail were rejected by the court.
The trial has been adjourned for counsels to address the court on 21 April 2016.

WHAT IS THE REAL STATE OF HEALTH OF ALHAJIE AMADOU CEESAY OF TARANGA FM?
Foroyaa Editorial: April 12, 2016
The case of the Secretary General of the Gambia National Transport Association (GNTCA), the late Sheriff Dibba, should be an eye opener to the authorities when it comes to handling cases of those remanded in prison custody whose state of health falls far short of normal.
Alhajie Abdoulie Ceesay is remanded in custody. Remanded prisoners are presumed innocent until their guilt is proven. Hence, they should have access to visitors, clothes, food, lawyers and all those things which enabled them to live in a good state of health.
There is need for the state to cause proper check up to be done to determine what is wrong with Alhajie Amadou Ceesay.
It is claimed that Chief Ebrima Manneh was taken to the hospital before it became a public notice that he has disappeared without trace.
Failing to give adequate care to a remanded prisoner who is ill may be detrimental to his or her health.
