I am totally baffled as to why Dr. Abdou Ceesay has ASSUMED that:
“As a technical department responsible for both the production and health of livestock, when such a case is reported to us, we would first investigate the cause of the death by taking the blood sample of the infected pig. "
The Dr.goes on to say:
"they suspect it is the African swine fever which kills pigs in large numbers "
As far as I am aware,(might be wrong sometimes am ) there has been NO POSTMORTEM Examination of ANY of the " mass killing of their animals." if that had been done then it would have been established that it was actually African swine fever:

AND:
“As a technical department responsible for both the production and health of livestock"
This department APPEARS to have failed to carry out its lawful remit which MUST have included the monitoring the health of the pig population in Gambia. I found this on the internet, personally I cannot understand the article, but I am certain that there are technical people in Gambia who know exactly the meaning of that which has been written:

It may well be that the dead pigs do not display the visible signs African swine fever, and may well have met their deaths by some other means being poisoned for example or other cause that would be seen at postmortem.

Toubab, I know u like knowledge & a good read - see link below and keep an open mind to a virus that has history/connections/mutant etc., with Ebola.
Very interesting & frightening indeed:
Ebola Reston Virus Infection of Pigs: Clinical Significance and Transmission Potential
The link below is just too exhaustive - just 'Google' Trasmission of Pigs with Ebola because I am unable to get the required page I want onto here for persons to read.

SAB.WOW !!!
My single SIMPLE brain cell is now suffering from information overload!
As I wrote before,I am often wrong this appears to be a case in point,it is great to have people like you who understand my opinions on the information I have gleaned easily,I am more than happy to accept correction from those who have more than my one brain cell there is so much information out there but not being an academic ( or politico ! ) I tend to get sidetracked easily.
