Full story:
Principal Magistrate Ebrahim Kijera of the Bundung Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 13 March, ordered for the immediate arrest of one Yahya Ndow, for falsely taking a sum of one hundred and fifty thousand dalasi (D150,000) from a complainant for an alleged visa transaction.
Principal Magistrate Kijera after going through the file asked the defendant (Mr. Ndow) whether he has actually taken the said amount from the plaintiff (Mrs. Cham) for a visa transaction which he answered in the affirmative. The plaintiff complained to the court that the defendant refused to repay the money after failing to produce the visa. At this juncture, the court orders the police officers at the courtroom to immediately arrest the defendant and take him to the station for proper investigation in the matter. “You are not an embassy to issue visa to people. You should stop collecting money from people without giving them visa,” said Principal Magistrate Kijera. Subsequently, the defendant was arrested by the police officers at the court and taken to the Bundung Police Station. There was murmuring in the crowded courtroom when he was escorted by the police.
