United Democratic Party Press Release
The United Democratic Party (UDP) is pleased to announce the launching of an important initiative by its Diaspora supporters. The effort, called The Voter Engagement Initiative, is aimed at underwriting the costs associated with the weekly constituency visits to be undertaken by the Party leader and the core campaign team beginning with a trip to Kombo East in the first week of November and continuing throughout the 2011 election cycle. The campaign team will set out to visit nearly approximately 1800 towns and villages from Barra to Sami Balinngoto on the North Bank and from Koina to Kartong on the South Bank. The leadership will meet with Gambians in their homes, on their farms, in the markets, or wherever they may be. These intimate settings would be ideal for the team to hear from the voters and also share with them their ideas for a Gambia that offers them a better future. The Diaspora supporters have undertaken to provide D50,000 per month to help fund this robust engagement of the voters at the grassroots level. Additionally, the party supporters will endeavor to engage their fellow concerned Gambians to engage their families in their constituencies in this crucial struggle for a better Gambia. The solution to the difficult circumstances we face as a nation is in our collective hands and as a result all of us must assign ourselves a role. We can make things happen with our collective effort. All Gambians are in this together. It will therefore take all of us to move the country forward in the direction. We thank our supporters for their sense of duty and fidelity to the promise of democracy even in a political arena as rough and uncertain as the one that prevails in our country. We are calling on all Gambians to join this important initiative and help expand it to enable the party to sustain the outreach effort in every settlement and community in The Gambia. Gambians in North America who wish help in this effort can contact the UDP USA at the following numbers 206-250-3822, 917-519-9835, or 931-721-6650. Those in Europe can do so by contacting UDP UK at gambiaforall@gmail.com. May God bless you all and The Gambia.

CONGRATS TO UDP MILITANTS ON A WONDERFULLY THOUGHT INITIATIVE! LIKEWISE THIS INITIATIVE FROM PDOIS AGENDA 2011 CAN MAKE A MASSIVE DIFFERENCE FOR 2011 AGAINST JAMMEH/APRC!
TO REFLECT ON AGENDA 2011; please refer related Bantaba Gambian politics topic PDOIS pushes Agenda 2011 under http://www.gambia.dk/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9346
IT IS MY VIEW THAT PDOIS AGENDA 2011 CAN BENEFIT ALL OPPONENTS OF JAMMEH/APRC!
YES WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER & SHARE SAME COMMON GOAL FOR A NATIONAL CAUSE! |

Nyarikangbanna This looks a great initiative ,if I may make a couple of comments please, which I am sure have been thought about before this announcement, firstly UDP has undertaken to move forward in the democratic process of the Gambia by not linking with any other opposition party as agreement has not been reached for a working arrangement between the opposition parties of The Gambia,as there is only mention of the UDP despite long and protracted talks. Secondly the D50,000 per month from "Diaspora supporters" is based on well intentioned promises from those willing to give I assume and is in place.? |
"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.
