Momodou Lamin Touray aka DJ Lil Sisqo of 2-Ray Syndicate, a music promotion and production company based in The Gambia and Oslo, Norway, has disclosed plans to bestow on President Jammeh the 'Man of Peace for the Year 2010 Award'.
The award is in recognition of his dedication to ensuring peace within and outside The Gambia. According to Touray, the award will be presented to the Gambian leader during 2-Ray Syndicate's 5th "All White Party" slated for Boxing Day (December 26th) at Club Duplex. This annual event has been rated as one of the best and most attended parties in The Gambia.
In an interview with this reporter yesterday, Touray stated that the main objective of the event is to promote peace both in The Gambia and abroad. He said this 5th edition will also create an avenue to welcome back home Africans in the Diaspora and tourists, for them to enjoy the warm hospitality of the Smiling Coast.
"We are known for our professional approach, programme, planning and implementations and last year's event was held at Sheraton Hotel and Spa with red carpet treatment, paparazzi photos session and VIP treatment. This year, we are doing white carpet treatment with side attraction which is different from last year's night," Touray said.
The international DJ who has made a name for himself in the Scandinavia further disclosed that the theme for this year's event is "Promote Peace in The Gambia" saying they want to award the Gambian leader as a Man of Peace 2010, for his dedication and proactive role towards maintaining peace and unity in the sub-region and the world at large.
He continued: "The award will be handed over by 2-Ray Syndicate. We are thinking about this for the past two years, but thought it wise to award him this year in commemorating our fifth year anniversary simply because President Jammeh is promoting peace and equality among Gambians." Touray pointed out that the Gambian leader has also created the enabling environment for young people to be creative and has been helping them both day and night to get their careers on track.
Further commenting on this years 'All White Party Day', Touray said the main event will be preceded by a caravan exhibition, as well as a horse excursion, both meant to promote the event. He added that during the event proper, there will be a 'white dress' competition, with an award given to those dressed in the best white outfits. He explained that this will also be a motivation because the president is always dressed in white.
"A DVD of the programme will also be made available. We bring Hollywood to The Gambia with special Christmas and New Year get together party packages. So everybody must come and see this surprise packages. We are out to put the Gambian flag on top of the world map and make Gambian artistes to be known internationally. We are proud of being Gambians and what we see in The Gambia will always give us courage and love to come back to the land of peace –the Smiling Coast," Touray enthused.
