Those very clever people from India have identified a viable project to get involved in and make money,in the Gambian market, electricity from solar power, why solar power? the fuel sunshine is free ! there is a lot of it in The Gambia ! installations can make electricity anywhere in the country without expensive infrastructure, there are a few drawbacks, the average Gambian has no money, quite correctly this company must rely on the political will of the administration in order to make the project work,NAWEC is the monopoly power company, that is government owned,so is a monopoly likely to welcome competition for their product No, of course not,so government approval is a necessity, secondly solar panels are still expensive and you need a lot to generate electricity on a commercial scale.
