Seizing power by gun, it was a statement of covenience and grand deception that Yaya Jammeh trumpeted the nation with an insincere slogan "Power to the people."

More than 16 years, greed and selfishness reign, with Yaya taking all power for his selfish passion.

That is blatant deception that needs condemnation. Down with Yaya Jammeh's scheme of deception.

Gambians are not totally helpless as it may look like. Gambians have to refuse being deceived and that leads the way out of this quagmire. It is one thing for Yaya Jammeh to portray the image of an angel. It is up to Gambians to see the devil of him and refuse to be deceived. Yaya has no power to twist hands. He is only playing games. Once people are made to understand that, everything changes.

It is the business of every Gambian to chase this demon out of town.

This year 2010 (16years) appears to have laid bare Gambia; LOTS OF SCANDALS & SERIOUS HUMAN RIGHTS REPORTS ALREADY TABLED AT (UN, EU & US) under rulership with Yaya! A LOT HAS BEEN EXPOSED AND MORE IS BEING DONE; PARTICULARLY SEEN IN THE COURTS & EXTRA-JUDICIAL ACTIVITIES

THE SO-CALLED DIASPORA GAMBIAN'S AND CONSIDERED INTELLIGENT, CLEVER, EDUCATED & INTELLECTUALS APPEAR TO BE TOTALLY DIS-ORIENTATED AND DOING NOTHING APART FROM SLANDERING YAYA, LOUSY DISCUSSIONS ACROSS GAMBIA ON-LINE MEDIA & CYBER TERRORISMS; FOR EXAMPLE THIS TOPIC IS ONE OF THOSED RE-CYCLED TO ENCOURAGE MORE RESENTMENT AND OPPOSITION TO YAYA WITHOUT ANY EFFECT; AS YAYA IS INVINCIBLE IN CYBERSPACE

THIS IS JUST ABOUT LOUD MOUTH AND COWARDICE IN MY OPINION! ANY SOLUTIONS ANY SOUND IDEAS ANY SUGGESTIONS THE TALKING AND POLITICAL BICKERING, SMEARING CAMPAIGN IS ENOUGH, WITHOUT ANY ACTION; ACTION; ACTION PLEASE

DEBATES ARE CONSIDERED COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE WITHOUT ANY COMMON CONSENSUS, LACK OF AGENDA FOR COMING 2011 ELECTIONS & STRATEGIES TO CHALLENGE YAYA ON "POWER (BACK) TO THE PEOPLE"! OPPOSITION PARTIES ARE COMPLETELY DEMORALISED AND THERE IS NOTHING FOR GAMBIANS EXCEPT YAYA'S AGENDA; SO WHAT & HOW CAN WE DO TO REGAIN "POWER TO THE PEOPLE" IN MY OPINION ITS NOT ABOUT "YAYA FOOLS NATION" BUT OTHER WAY ROUND THAT THERE ARE LOTS OF FOOLS IN THE NATION OR YOU SAYING TO US THAT GAMBIANS ARE FOOLS PERIOD

GOOD BYE ON THIS TOPIC!

Kobo,

Wind down little more. There are over 1.8 million Gambians. If one takes a minute or two to write how he/she feels, the other million + still have time to take other courses of action. You have nobody stopping you taking matters further by other courses of actions of your choice. Don't ask others for what they have not done. Just do yours and there is the limit of your power. You have all the time to decide what you choose to do. It is that same right anyone else has. What have you been doing on cyberspace apart from expressing opinion? Is that not action on your part?

Everyone is free enough to decide whatever course of action. Even to attempt stopping others like you have just done is another course of action. Will anyone choose to stop you from judging others?

Best of things is for you to do yours and let other be who they are and what they choose to do.

The right of opinion you have is no more than anyone else. If you have other forms of ACTION (even gun trotting) go ahead.

I LIKE YOU CLEVER MAN! THAT'S A VERY GOOD INTELLIGENT REACTION! ALTHOUGH AM NOT JUDGING ANYONE!

YOU ARE THE GUYS (FULL OF POTENTIALS) WHO SHOULD BE AT THE FOREFRONT OF GAMBIAN POLITICS! THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH ME IS THAT I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF SCANDALISING YAYA & HIS GOVERNMENT UNDER APRC! ALSO I BELIEVE THAT AVERAGE GAMBIANS ARE AWARE OF THE POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT AND STATE OF NATION UNDER YAYA! IF NOTHING IS DONE COMING 2011 YAYA WOULD CONTINUE TO "FOOL NATION" FOR MORE YEARS OR ANOTHER TERM THOSE OF US SHARING LEISURE & AT CYBERSPACE WHO WANT RADICAL CHANGES, MOBILISING EFFORTS TO REVOLUTIONISE THE SYSTEM SHOULD RE-ASSESS OUR METHODS SO THAT IT CAN HAVE EFFECT AGAINST YAYA TO STOP "FOOLING THE NATION" I WOULD SUGGEST THAT WE NEED DYNAMIC LEADERS,THOSE ON THE FRONT-LINE, LOCAL AS GRASS-ROOTS, ORGANISED BASES ACROSS DIASPORA & A PROPER LINE OF COMMUNICATION FOR NETWORKING MIGHT WORK THE MOST VIABLE MEANS IS TO PROMOTE UNITING ALL OPPOSITION PARTIES UNDER A UNITED FRONT SO THAT WE CAN ACHIEVE THE COMMON GOAL OF STOPPING YAYA FROM "FOOLING NATION" WE NEED TO GET CONNECTED THROUGH A PROPER NETWORK AND HARMONISE OUR EFFORTS FOR STRATEGIC REASONS TO SAVE NATION

A ONE PARTY STATE MAY BE YAYA'S NEXT AGENDA AFTER ANOTHER MASSIVE LANDSLIDE VICTORY AGAINST OUR DECAPITATED OPPOSITION PARTIES PRESENTLY IT SEEMS GAMBIA IS INFORMALLY A ONE PARTY STATE AND THE GAMBIA CONSTITUTION SERVES WHAT YAYA DICTATES

OH POOR MOTHER GAMBIA WHERE ARE WE HEADING

Yaya on his part will never play fair. He knows his route to power. Being the armed robber, he will continue playing hostile.

People of Gambia on their part have all the time to accept or to reject what Yaya is inflicting on everyone.

Change comes about in revolutionary processes, at a point in time. That stage of decadence where the governed refuses being governed the old way, and those who govern find it impossible to govern the old way.

It is a matter of collective will. Along the way, some people of different passuasion may come up. Without the collective will, it just will not happen by simple desire of the few.

Concerning what Gambia is going through, those who take on the various political roles are not together with others. There is massive division between players and those for whom they pose to play. There is hardly a shared AGENDA to unite people of different passuasion.

Meanwhile, Yaya is growing wild feathers and needs pruning. Just because current political players are not coming together with shared AGENDA does not provide that Yaya is given total freedom to keep his onslaught. He has to be addressed, even if that means writing these lines you are now reading. There are various ways to capture wild animals. Some people will only keep at directing the location, and others chase the animals.

While in agreement with you there is no SHARED AGENDA for opposing parties wanting to unseat Yaya Jammeh, they are directly responsible. There is time to decide. In the look of things, opposing parties to Yaya are also opposing one and other. Yet they have a choice to desist from that.

It is disastrous on both sides of the coin! EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES REQUIRE EXTRAORDINARY DECISIONS & ACTIONS!

Refer letter published by jollof online news What Gambia needs ahead 2011 elections under http://www.jollofnews.com/what-gambia-needs-ahead-of-2011-elections.html

Brother Karamba I believe you may have other ideas on WHAT RESOLUTIONS AND OPTIONS ARE OPEN OR AVAILABLE TO ADDRESS THIS QUAGMIRE & REDRESS THE GAMBIA OUR HOMELAND, IN ADDITION TO YOUR OBSERVATIONS; "THAT ALL MAY LIVE IN UNITY, FREEDOM & PEACE EACH DAY! AND JOIN OUR DIVERSE PEOPLE TOWARDS THE COMMON GOOD!" Therefore WHAT IS WAY FORWARD TO STOP "YAYA FOOLS NATION"

On better look of things, it appears as though the animal already escaped. Last 16 years has been one big circus where Gambians stayed being baffled by Yaya Jammeh. To start with, Gambians should have refused the coup order stay on for anything near those baffling 2 years called transition to civilian rule. There has never been a transition and for more than 16 years now, military rule is still taking wicked toll over people of Gambia.

To explain why everything has taken this long will only extend the time much further. Mistakes incurred by opposing political groupings worth nothing to lament about.

One big way of getting out of it is for ALL OTHER political groups to refuse Yaya Jammeh contest any more elections including 2011. Best way to capture the logic of getting Yaya out of the ring is when anyone bothers to consider the extent of further damage looming over the country with additional hours, days, weeks, months, and worst off, years keeping Yaya.

Someone may ask, but how do we refuse Yaya to be part of the political show. The answer is because not only has he staged a coup coming to power, he already overstayed his unwelcoming invasion.

All political parties against the perpetuation of Yaya need not set on the race for coming to power. The task at hand is to restore political order. They have it in their power to stay away from Jammeh's faked electoral scheme. Going to polls with Yaya next Thousand times is to enhance his illegitimate overstay.

Opposing parties have the power to come together and demand that Yaya gets off or no elections. ONLY when Yaya is not part of the political game that free and fairness is anything to think about. With him in the ring, NO CHANCE for One Thousand Gambian political parties.

Therefore, it is the opposing political parties that continue to empower Yaya. They keep following rules made by a schemer (Yaya) who does not trust rules. They (Gambian opposition parties) have the better option of coming together with agreement that Yaya is totally disallowed. Staying in power all the 16+ years is ALREADY more than enough time.

On how "Yaya Fools Nation" this special commentary from Gainako news attempts to address it; Special Commentary: Jammeh’s Windfall Again. under http://www.gainako.com/news/news/2010/09/01/special-commentary-jammeh%E2%80%99s-windfall-again.html

Brother Karamba thanks for your response and opinions! Yes Yaya is a master of "fooling nation" and capitalise on general elections to stay longer until nation is awake to flush him out! In my opinion I cannot squarely blame opposition parties but all of us (particularly so-called diaspora, educated, intellectuals, literate and intelligent Gambians) are too complacent and very seriously lack solidarity to change the government; irrespective of NATIONAL POLITICAL DISASTERS & SCANDALS!

Brother Kobo, we are in some agreement. Where we differ is about how the Gambian opposition parties get off the hook from your end of the net.

There is more to blame the opposition than you suggest setting on the shoulders of Gambian Diaspora. The opposition needs to come together at a point to first get rid of Yaya Jammeh who by all accounts is totally UNFIT to be in the political arena at all. He is a criminal who will never surrender his crime hands.

Knowing that Yaya is unlawful and so crude, what makes Gambian opposition parties stay on the votes game with him remains a major wonder.

It appears Kobo, you are stuck on your point about the opposition, or shall we say, a particular opposition party.

Your contributoions are massively good.

LATEST ON ACCOUNTABILITY, TRANSPARENCY & PROBITY FOR YAYA MILLIONS; Jollof on-line news Jammeh gives D5M, 3 Vehicles on finding new wife intact under http://www.jollofnews.com/jammeh-gives-d5m-3-vehicles-on-finding-new-wife-intact.html

A divergent view on "Yaya fools nation" from Daily news President Jammeh, a Revolutionary Leader under http://www.dailynews.gm/index.php?id=dn_home&tx_wecdiscussion[single]=129150

DAILY NEWS COMMENTARY

"The president of the Republic of The Gambia can be seen as a revolutionary in the way and manner he handles the country. He is a president who has been yearning for the development of the country and the improvement of its people. He is also contributing his quota to the unity of Africa.

The Gambia was in the hands of some people who were there for their own and personal interest for thirty years, leaving the citizens of the country suffering and with no opportunity for development. The country was in a poor state of economic, medical and infrastructural development.

The lack of development that made the Gambia lagging behind in the rankings of African countries, prompted the current president His Excellency Sheikh Professor Dr. Alhagie Yahya A.J.J.Jammeh, to take over the country in a peaceful manner that was a surprise to the whole nation.

Thank God for giving us this kind of President in the name of Yahya Jammeh, a patriotic citizen who was born and went to school in the country and at the same time served the nation through its military for several years with hard work and commitment. He also served as a bodyguard to the former president.

From there, the talented and patriotic man, then Lieutenant Yahya Jammeh, on the evening of Friday July 22, 1994 took charge of The Gambia, just to rescue its people, without any drop of blood.

The Gambian president is commonly recognized by Gambians with his white dress. He came at a time when he was most needed by the people of the entire country, as he just came to fight injustice, corruption and hypocrisy in the country.

He brought peace to the nation and urged the youth and the entire people of the country to be committed to the development of the Gambia, and at the same time creates employment for the people in different walks of life. He did not only stop at encouraging people to be loyal to their nation, but also led by example in his development strive.

He, the revolutionary man, could be seen as the best president in the whole world as he is just there for the benefit of the country and not his personal interest.

In a period of 16 years under his leadership, The Gambia has made a name for herself by being among the most respected countries in the region in terms of economic development.

A good citizen of a nation will see what he does for the nation but not what the nation does for him or her and this is what the president is doing; so anybody who wants to see the development of the country should love the noble president of ours. Meaning we are and should continue praying for him to lead the nation for a longer period of time.

Religion

In religion he made tremendous efforts by building mosques for Muslims living in the country, providing Hajj packages for pilgrimage to Mecca. He helped many people of the country to go to Mecca to perform the fifth pillar of Islam, Hajj. He also gives food and shelter to many people across the country. He also offers his support to the Christians residing in the country.

Security

He provided the whole nation with a conducive environment in which citizens of the great country can move freely without any problem, meaning that The Gambia is such a lovely and peaceful country to live in. This attracted the attention of many people from other countries to visit the country as tourists or to engage in business.

Health Area

In the health sector he did it all by building hospitals and health centres across the country just to make medical treatment accessible to the citizens of the country. He also provides scholarship packages for the people of the country to study medicine so as to serve in The Gambia. Besides, the Gambia is among the cheapest if not the cheapest when it comes to medications.

Infrastructure

In terms of roads, electricity, markets and others many are being built by the president in the country. In that case traveling has been made easy within the country due to good roads.

As part of his infrastructural development, The Gambia international airport terminal building was constructed and wins the admiration of many people because of its beauty. He provided good ferries to facilitate the transportation of people from Barra-Banjul terminals, which are cheap and accessible to the people in and out of the country to move with their goods.

Electricity

In the area of electricity, he is doing well by electrifying the main streets of the greater Banjul area, and also introduced rural electrification, by making electricity accessible to the people up country.

Communication and Information

In the area of communication, he came up with a good initiative by creating the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) giving The Gambia and its people the opportunity to be featured on screen. After a few years, GRTS was on satellite and viewers in and out of the country can watch the television live. This man is only looking for what will develop the Gambia, and will not compromise with that.

Education

For education, he built several school across the country, primary, junior and senior secondary schools and went further to build the Gambia University of The Gambia which gives the people the opportunity to further their education in their own country. He also continues to give scholarships to Gambians to further their education in other countries.

Cleansing

He introduced the operation clean the nation ("Set-Settal") when the whole country will observe a cleansing exercise on the last Saturday of every month, which pays dividend by reducing the incidence of malaria in the country. It also makes the country a clean and healthy nation.

Agriculture

From there we come to the pillar of development, which is agriculture, one of the areas President Jammeh leads by example as he cultivates the most of all types of crops in the country with his initiative "operation feed yourself." He sees himself not as the president but a simple man that works on the farm with his bare hands in front of all Gambians and for whole world to see.

In addition he also intervenes in the livestock sub-sector by providing meat for public consumption, leading the fight against hunger in the country.

President Jammeh is a leader by example, so I confess to the people of The Gambia that our president is a good president that we should collectively pray and support him for further development.

The author Pap Mbye is a Gambian citizen living in the country, working for HILL TOP RADIO FM.

This column The Gambia Today is a column for debate open to all persons who want to come up with there different views about development in the Gambia and the impact of Jammeh administration on national development in different aspects.

Divergent views are welcome as we believe that debate and dialogue is the way to an open society.

Kobo,

The criminal reality of Yaya Jammeh is fully blown. He, like most of his supporters know that everything is fake. Yaya is the most unpatriotic and acutely ruthless person Gambia has ever to see.

Truly stating Kobo, Jammeh needs to be real and save Gambia from this menace. My concern and that of most sane Gambians is that even if Jammeh was an angel, there is already more than enough of him. Let him give us a break.

Politics season is story telling time. Jammeh is never tired of it. Everyting about discovering oil and other natural resources is dream talk. Jammeh is sleep-walking and wants to drown the whole Gambia in his ocean of fantasy. Too much fooling.

Gambia has no oil or gas that will be lifted too soon. Stop it Jammeh. Don't go near it.

Karamba you have been telling stories since the next day after the last elections, and you know something they just aren't credible. So keep on spinning yourself into a vortex because as you go round and round in circles Jammeh is going around Gambia meeting the people and furthering vision 2020. While you bombard bantaba every minute of the day with your foolishness. This is having no impact on the realities people are facing on the ground. Tell us seriously what do you have to offer Gambians and why they should follow you as blind sheep to a slaughter. Just tell us. What are you trying to achieve. Yaya isn't fooling the nation they just haven't been given an alternative vision that they can trust. The Gambian electorate know President Jammeh delivers they see it right across the country. You forget Jammeh has been elected by the people twice and it looks like he will be voted in for the third. Then the Gambian aren't fooled they've made an informative decision to do so. Karamba stop trying to insult peoples intelligence. I am sure Gambians at home will make their own decision based on what they think is best for the country's future developments.

Peace
