Kitabul Arrer,

From what keeps coming up, it appears Yaya is full blown maniac. The sum of GDM 3 Million falls on the far upper limit for bride price in Gambia. Only drug dealers can afford that in Gambia. Therefore Yaya Jammeh is a dirty money dealer with major in drugs.

Poor little rich girl..........

When an old African dies, it is as if a whole library has burnt down.

Hmmm second wife? Lemme see, I can't even afford one wife.... part-time even quarter wife is much betta....

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.

I thought it was legal to have 4 wives?!

This young girl, is she his second wife? Or is this just rumour?

Personally I am very uncomfortable when people marry someone who could be their child. Sometimes it will be genuinely love and will last, but sometimes it will be an unequal relationship usually based on sex and money.

I don't think MOST men in ANY country can properly support more than one wife and their children. Surely it is better to be open and divorce one wife before marrying another, rather than casting one aside!!!

Bev.
(The following is written by a bloke!who is NOT an expert, advisor or scholar on anything Oh yes and an Englishman )

It is a fact that MANY women in The Gambia are treated as almost property belonging firstly to their fathers and secondly to their husbands, they have few chances of getting a job with sufficient salary to live on their own without a man,so,love is somewhat pushed into the background and the facts of life in The Gambia take effect, which boil down to sex and money, what can a woman do ? no choice. It is an established custom to be allowed to have more than one wife in The Gambia,so men being men love good looking girls and when one wife gets a bit old through age and overwork the man looks around,if he can get a trophy wife great.it is rumoured that H.E.s new wife cost D3 mil.!
