But why? Badjie-Basen Heat, pain, anguish and sorrow Loneliness and lies Framing, canning betrayals Oh Jesus! The tears of Jesus is not that of fear The drops expose more than we envisage After the Sound bite and cliché Chinese whispers ensues
Adventurous cronyism caused the likes of Jesus to Be left to dry He knew, he is a crook, a common bandit However, is he a lone? The operations in the damned franchise Is steered not by lower movers like him He has been part of a lot Rough and ready decency Personal odyssey laid bare
If foot soldiers are blamed for serious crimes What then happen to the General? We told Jesus, aiding a tyrant means one thing Suicide!! Like gangsters, when you become a liability The sounds of bullets reap your heart In a shadow state, the imbecile Judges and magistrates, do the arm twisting
Jesus cried because, he knew the big cat is as culpable as he is That, no wanton crimes happens without the orders from above That he Jesus was reassured and pet Now, he is laughed at Passersby sneered at him They wish he is dead Jesus’s tears is that of a broken man A man left to dry He now feels the injustices sane Gambians wail over The tears of Jesus is that of anger not pain His hurling of insults is to stir passions To give ammunition to populist overtures To him, I say indignantly ‘silence in the court"

It seems the Omega sister missed the core message in my poem. A person of her calibre who love to chastise us Gambians about the affairs of our country, yet she exposed her ineptude big time by thinking that, the poem is about Jesus Christ, a Prophet I love so much. Anyone who remotely understand the working of Yahya's tyranical maifa style governance will know that, Jesus here is none other than, Ensa Badjie. In fact, i wrote his surmane as a give away but the good sister couldn't get it. Badjie-Basen is the torten of the Badjies hence, Ensa Badjie the ex-police Chief serving term in jail. I mention that, his tears was not due to fear but betrayal and disappoint at the hand of his ex-boss. Ensa Badjie knew, he is only a small fish compared to the mafias that are exploiting the system with Yahya Jammeh. Needless to say more. Poetry is about mystery sometimes, but how direct can one get? |

Santa, I am a little surprised at this last post of yours,I am certain that you are fully aware that poems can mean all things to all men, just because you as the poet wrote the poem, people who read the poem are not inside your head when you wrote it, they can only read the words and put their own interpretaion on that you have written. |

That is why santa posts the last piece to interpret what he feels about the words in this poem. And that is why people read poetry, and, talk about it later on. Haven't you attend one of the reading/critique poetry session? |
diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

Turk Our good old mate Toubab is just pulling legs. He is more familiar with Gambian issues than many. Toubab himself may have commented on Jesus Badjie here many times and may do in future. The tones of Ensas we have in the Gambia is phinominal. Ensa is crocked Issa, or Jesus for the english folks. The poem clearly is talking about current issues. I know some part may be attrubuted to Jesus the Christ, but this one is far from it. Toubab i guess should have spoted Badjie within the frame, and Jesus Christ we all know have no such last name. My Catholic early school memories may have more or less faded but i can still remember the core Biblical stories of the Loving Prophet and his Desciples. Never came across Badjie as an associate of Jesus, may be good old Toubab can help |

Santa,I am sorry to say that I cannot help in this case ,I will say though that, personally I understood the content of your poem and was not in any doubt as to what the writer was writing about, however it could easily be construed in an alternative way. |
