Recently, friend of mine asked me who i think was geater, Malcolm X or Martin Luther King Jr.? I pondered over it eventhough knowing at the back of my mind that one isn't greater than the other. This was my response:
Who said Martin Luther King Jr. was greater than Brother Malcolm or the other way round? Do you know what you are talking about? These were two great men in the history of mankind. Martin Luther was like an oasis that a group of people came across while travelling in a desert without food and water. He was and still is life! Brother Malcolm I relate to Jesus Christ in Christendom. Like Christ died on the cross for the sins of mankind, Brother Malcolm sold his soul for the freedom of generations in bondage. These two men were a typical ying and yang. Brother Malcolm was the sun and Martin Luther was the moon. These two great natural forces must coexist in any form of life for its existence. Remember brother, good things come in pairs!!

African,
Thankyou. i find it hard to answer the puzzle, and i know Malcolm, like Dr King are among my favorites.
Brother malcolm's life appeal to me a lot more than any other struggling man, for the simple fact of his braveness, intelligence, way of life, the fact that he was attached to religion islam, and fighting for injustice against the blackman. Brother Malcolm's philosophy was by all means necessary. Brother malcolm's experience from street life then, helps a lot to have admiration of his life-a total metamorphosis, from the state of mind slavely to the state of mind freedom. The two different worlds makes a big difference.
Now, the same is for Dr. king, in addition to the respect he earned for his preaching of non-violence at a very triggering moment in American history.
I am careful in saying Malcolm's life appeal to me more, and honestly it does. I say this without any unfairness to Dr. King. They are all two great fellows, whose greaness cannot be measured in magnitude.
None of them was wrong, as far as my little common sense can interprete, and they all died on their noble causes.
May both of their souls rest in perfect peace ! And their swords be inherited wholly ..ameen. |
