An interesting lesson.

Kay, The second video has some very interesting message. The young girls warnings to the boys.
The boys should not risk their lives crossing the seas to Europe...
Also, certain festive practice make folks to accuse Jammeh of blending both worlds, if you know what I mean.

Don't you think if Yahya lives in Cassamance, he will contest for the kingship title. Since he is an accomplished spiritual master.

I don't think he will "contest". He will try to take it illegally by force

Kobo, it seems the DO is keen a follower of bantaba. Thanks for the link.

Appears DO were inspired to set-up a bantaba column also. However on 2nd Youtube video there is a good view of someone wearing a T Shirt with Jammeh's portrait as a militant or what

Kobo,

In the shallow depths of Yaya's constraint mind, the idea of amalgamating Cassa and Gambia stands a good thing. He has been testing his muscles for some time in that arena.

Santanfara, good entertainment the least.

Why do you think he chose building Kanilai?

Karamba, it could be to challenge the Cassa-mansa king. However, Yahya is more well known than the Cassamance one. Hence Kanilai has taken over the centre of cultural and other jambori. Kanilai has taken the roots festival from Niumi to Foni.

Thank you Santafara. The "Roots Festival" is traditionally ours (Niumi's) as the custodians of the Alex Haley and his internationally celebrated book 'Roots'. Alex Haley whose brother George served as U.S. ambasador to the Gambia in the mid 1990s traced his roots to Juffureh in Niumi. I was privileged to meet both George and his wife Doris in the Gambia. Very nice people! Niumi has the relics of slavery and many of the highlights of the "Roots" tradition. Foni has none.
Jammeh stole our tradition and took to Kanilai, a village and setting that has no link or relevance whatsoever to the "Roots" tradition and purpose. We, the people of Niumi feel cheated . This is armed robbery!

Very rue Kay. Yahya is a seasn criminal. And I hope he wouldn't declare himself the King of both Cassamance and The Gambia. If gambia cheat the Niumimkas, he can cheat anyone.

Man,

Yaya is a crafty rogue. He steals in style, rather very arrogantly. That's what he did to Jawara. He was trusted and he betrayed that trust. In the case of Jufure, he simply robbed without any connection. That whole deep blue sea divides Niumi and Foni so where's the link? Shame to this big thief.

Clearly Jammeh has staged many coups within the coup of July 22, if you get what I mean...
