I was from amazon.com offered to buy "The Epic of Kelefaa Saane" by Sirifo Camara. Well, after reading the book I will most likely to know who he is but is any of you familiar with the epic and is he as significant as Sunjata?

Kiwi, Thanks for the information about this book. In my opinion, he is less significant than Sunjata.

Kiwi, Sundiata/Sunjata was able to to unite twelve kingdoms of Mali into one of the most powerful empires ever known in Africa in the thirteenth century. Kelefaa Saane was a worrior of Kaabu at a later time. Kaabu was said to be one of the former provinces of the Mali Empire and was limited to nothern Guinea Bissau, Cassamance and South Western part of the Gambia(?).

Kiwi, here is a link to my blog. I wrote a bit on Kelefa. Hope you get some brief intro into his legacy.
