I don’t like to say this, but village boys have not been treated fairly and we must rise up and demand our share. In fact even my A’ Level fees were paid by the Mrs. Jow then as Principal. I will forever be grateful to her....
are you calling for a revolution!! but seriously i think we should all work together to solve our common problems. many people not from the provinces helped a lot of people from there. many ''country boys'' stayed with families in Banjul, and went on to become successful. i'm glad you mentioned the formal head of GHS , she was a good woman. i witnessed it.
but i must ask you, you make it sound as if the political elite, civil service are made up of people not from the provinces.
since independence the majority of ministers, civil servants, doctors, teachers etc have been from the provinces. all the rich men i know are ''country boys'' especially all the Sarakules.
people forget their roots when they become ''town boys'' |

I have always enjoyed your postings. They are hardly more than a line long but full of meanings and very satire |
“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always.” |

I am talking about the policies that put the country at a disadvantage. They need to be considered when planning for development. There seems to be two parallel Gambia and planners have very long not been able to see beyond Yundum.
In my short career as a public servant, i have come to the conclusion that what makes the government tick is not the ministers. That is a window dressing. They bark but dont bite.
The clique that decides what you wake up to is a different ball game. Some groups have maintained a hold on this pulse and have not let it yet. They may have changed faces, but have recruited early enough to continue to press the remote buttons. Have you wondered what happens at the house just before Radio Syd just by the sea side. There is a lonely building standing there. That is an assignment you will have to dig out for yourself. Some things are bettter left alone.
I will leave that open for some discussion but i will not go beyond that. Sorry |

my point was that the civil service and all instruments of the State are made up of people like You. ''country boys''. they are the majority. all the Directors i know are from the provincies. etc
no one is in a better position to understand rural life and its problems than those who come from there. !!!!!!!!!!!
i know exactly what happens there. its a private club for members. atleast thats the the rumour. but they are not pushing any buttons nor can they make anyone do anything.
i'm sorry but there are no conspiracies. |

Kondorong,
Please spare me this one and give me a hint. Before i travelled overseas and when i was staying in Banjul, when we go jogging at the beach, there are cars most of the time in the evening till late. I once asked a citizen of Banjul but he also said somthing ominous which i can't remeber but at that time i felt that its better to leave certain things as they are. But now that am a grown up AM CURIOUS TO REALLY KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING THERE NOT NECCESARYLY BY WHOM |

Jambar,
Thanks for the information. There is the myth surronding the place. We used to simply call it LODGE |
