Thanks for the link.
I have recently ordered a book from Amazon.com called War Bush: 81 (West African) Division in Burma 1943-1945 (Hardcover)~ John A.L. Hamilton (Author). I am very interested in this piece of history because my father had been one of them.

Njucks, its is a comprehensive book from a British perspective. The author was a British officer with the Gambia regiment, so there is plenty on the Gambian troops and their achievements.

Yes indeed Gambians participated in WW11 many perished on the battle fields but other came back among them were those came fully balanced as not insane but some loss that faculty and became casualties at home. This inspired me to pen the poem "mamatabatee".it was a world war but for most of those soldiers it was forced on them as they were not fully educated about the reasons for the said war . This is my humble opinion .

So Kaanibaa. Were they forced? Or volunteered?

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.
