I really should learn a few more African languages, instead of being SO uneducated, anyone help with the story obviously the words will be totally different but a brief breakdown would be helpful to me. |

2bab, I hear your concerns. I hope Bro karamba allows me to directly translate his poem.
The title of the poem, "Tonya waato siita" means it is time to speak the truth. It is followed by a traditional proverb, saying "When the mighty tree falls, then the birds on it will all be scattered in directions." The poem seems to take its argument from this known loacl proverb. I would have put the proverb in quotes, but it is the author's choice of words. The poem itself is talking about the arrival of waves of truth that burried falsehood into deeper grounds. The poem also addresses an audience, asking them to champion the truth and shun falsehood. It gave different scenarious. It a poem of "demonstration" against falsehood. The poem further challenges all to establish truth and shun falsehood…with its many emphasis that the truth is nigh; the time is nigh…etc…It is a nice poem.

quote:
Fo ali maa moi Yiri baa boita Kuno lu jangjang ta Ali lammoi
Haven't you heard the mighty tree has fallen and the birds scattered in directions so you all listen, attentively.
quote: Kumo siya ta Tonyafo siita Tillo malata Mol silangta
Talk is nigh truthfulness is nigh the sun has born (rise) the people are scared.
quote: Fallo kumata Ninsolu kumata Waato siita Kibaaro naata
The donkey has echoed the cows have echoed the time is nigh the news has arrived.
quote: Faniyaa sembo warata Tonya fatiyata Hackilo doyata Kumo siyata
Falsehood is big truthfulness is strength lacking common sense spirit the talk has been too much. quote:
Ali wuli waato siita Ning tonyaa mang fo Faniya si lo Molu balangta
Get up! The time is nigh if the truth is not told then falsehood will stand and the people are in defiance.
quote: Kaybaa lu beh siiring Dokuwo beh laaring Domoro bangta Kodo bangta
The elders are well seated and the work is left laying food is all gone and money is all gone.
quote: Kiddo kumata Mol lu beh deh ta Kibaaro seneya ta Mol lu bataa ta
The gun echoed aloud all the people went silent the message is very clear the people are tired.
quote: Molu beh taa Mo kiling ya taa Doli baa fola Ala bula
It is all ours one person hijacked it and others are saying leave him alone.
quote: Waato siita Kumo pareh ta Tonya wul ta Faniya la ta
The time is nigh the word is ready the truth is out falsehood is burried.
quote: Yiribaa boi ta Kuno lu jangjangta Kumo koi ta Faniya dubeng ta
The mighty tree has fallen the birds scattered in directions the truth has been cleared falsehood has been darkened.

Karamba, a good one , it reminds me of the biniiboh style of poetry. I think you should write more of this style

Wow! Dalton1,
A real good translation there. The universal language of truth has no ambiguities. You have done it right for T1020. The message is simple and clear.
Janko, you have it. Your understanding enriches the purpose. Where deception and denial reign there comes a time when patience and tolerance diminish. " Tonyaa Waato siita." |

Thank you Karamba a nice poem,Thank you Dalton 1 for the interpretation, you skill is well noted, otherwise many of ignorant folks would have had no idea at all of what the Poet Karamba was trying to convey,as I understand it now it is a poem praising honesty and truth, and pointing out problems of "falsehood" or put another way telling lies. This verse I really like:
Falsehood is big truthfulness is strength lacking common sense spirit the talk has been too much
Thanks again Dalton1 for your skill.

Another good poem and it resonates with me so I stand by you all the way brother Karamba, the transliteration by Dalton was also very good and helped add spice to it.I missed this forum as I was away a lot for some time now.Let this flow ceaselessly and that way we too can vent our feelings , let it not be said that we kept silent in the face of this travesty persisting in our nation. At least we did speak out against it so perhaps that would count some way. As some would oppose this move we stand in solidarity with you and hope we win this battle one day and that perhaps we shall be remembered for standing up and be counted too. |

Thank you Kaanibaa,
There is no chance for these bandits. For Yaya Jammeh, he is one very ungrateful being Gambians don't deserve. How can a person rob whole nation and expect being respected? The least we can do is to damn him and cause maximum disrespect on his cruel person. He has no power to break us. We will break him down. The truth will ever prevail over falsehood.
Keep it coming. Yours has been so good. This is a small chip to encourage you good people that we are more powerful than these bandits. |

Bro kani;
Welcome back. You were truly missed but your poems are always afresh.
On this one though, Bro. Karamba has done some good work in it. I could have done way better in that interpretation, but have been very busy myself.
Thanks for touching on the poem of love...well, you are lovely yourself!
See it soon here.
