Gambia: President threatens to kill the defenders of human rights
Speaking of those who want to join the defenders of human rights in Gambia with intention of "destabilizing the country," President Yahya Jammeh has issued death threat during a television interview. Gambian President Yahya Jammeh, in a Monday interview with state television, threatened to kill those who he said would "destabilize the country" by helping the defenders of human rights. "Those who want to work with these so-called defenders of human rights and imagine they will be defended by them are wrong. If you want to destabilize the country, sowing confusion and suffering to my people, I will ensure that you are dead ( ...), "the president said. If you're a troublemaker, then leave this country. If you're anti-development, leave the country or become a peaceful person," said Jammeh who ruled the country unchallenged for 15 years. "What I want to make very clear to each and every one of these so-called defenders of human rights is that I will never allow anyone to destabilize the country on behalf of the campaign to promote the rights of man, " he said.

I think the best translation would be semi-English-speaking enclave of Senegal. With semi-English the writer probably meant English is spoken as much as other languages in the Gambia. |

The Sheikh needs to hire a statehouse spokesman Shaka, that i can assure you ,Making threats is as Gambian as lying.whether the rest of the world takes it out of context is evident in every controversial speech he gives. The brother has a hard time expressing himself in a professional way. Jammeh ain't gonna kill no one ,he is trying to address an issue, but making the wrong utterances,he so far has not beheaded any gays neither is any of the opposition members 6 feet under, The brother is a real Gambian "soap rekk" ..........................................Peace quote: Originally posted by shaka

Moe by the way i think Dadis Camara is a Gambian as well, he emigrated to Guinea when he was young. The man is as crazy as the Sheikh if not crazier. I doubt if even the Sheikh would have gone to the same extremes as did. Who said only Sheikh is anti-dissent. |

You have to admit ,its very typical of Young African Leaders, especially the military, personally it just reminded me of Gambia ,the only difference is that,it is in french. I did not know he had Gambian Heritage,I can tell you that the attitude is typical of our people...........................................................Peacequote: Originally posted by shaka

OK Thanks, I imagined that it meant that Gambia was an English part of Senegal. |

Ken du wo sa moromu bai diko saga si birr pencha bi. What a disgraceful ignorant!!! He needs a shot in the arse. Don't they always claim to come to the rescue of the people who they will eventually treat worse than the people they are rescued from. The man is nuts!! Even the Sheikh despises him. That tells a lot. |

,"Ken du wo sa moromu bai diko saga si birr pencha bi" tell me about it.It seems this is the only way transition occurs in Africa, first you make your predecessors look like losers and then you claim to be the LIGHT ...............................................Peace

Toubab1020,
"Yahya Jammeh, 44 ans, est au pouvoir en Gambie, petit pays anglophone semi-enclavé dans le Sénégal, depuis son coup d'Etat de 1994."
This is what the above sentence means in English " Yahya Jammeh who is 44yrs, has been in power in The Gambia, a small english speaking country which is half locked in Senegal(like a land-locked country), since his 1994 coup." |

Well translated Madiba. Error on my part. I should have left it at 'a semi English-speaking enclave of Senegal.' My hands up. |
