Raze the whole of Kanilai to the ground after Jammeh. We can't have every leader using the tax payer's money to build his or her village - let them use their own wealth to do that.

Soninke, Kanilai can be used as a meseum to teach coming generations of Gambians of wrong governance. Yaya has built kanilai out his own money. African leaders have the keys to the coffers of their respective country's at hand. So they(African leaders) own their country's revenues and economies. What can be more than ownership, in this regard, when one has total control of the keys that open and lock coffers where the monies are stored?

i think Kanilai is an example of jammeh's ignorance. how can you be a president and be so petty. i used to think only African Americans where the only ones who were so territorial, you know: "this is my hood", or "this is my block" geez, i hate stupidity.

a sage narrated this story
so many years ago a man about to die called his two sons called tonya (truth) and faniya (lie as in liar) to his death bed. fanya was the elder . He told them that he knows that he will die and advised them to live together in peace and harmony. the man had several cows goats sheep and a slave woman all of which he left to his offspring.Fanya ran out to meet some influencial but coorupt elders whom he persuaded to be on his side and offered them some life stock in exchange for their loyalty. They came with him to the old man's homestead and on arrival found him dead. The elders set upon the young boy tonya and beat him up. He cried for a long time and wiped his tears . he then asked the elders why they beat him up, they replied that he hadnt done anything yet but he was beaten becsuse of what will do in future. On hearing that statement he stopped crying knowing that he has received a punishment for a future offence and that when that happens he will not punished for that again. The elders then decided to help bury the old man and after this went about sharing his belongings among the two. Fanya was given all the lifestock and the slave woman was also made available to fanya to have for his pleasure in bed but tonya could use on his farm. What they said was that fanya owns the womans body from the hips downwards and tonya owns the arm and upper body to do work for him only. Tonya accepted this without complaining. well as time went on the woman became pregnant and was about to deliver, fanya told tonya that the child was his as he is the one who sleeps with her. Again tonya accepted this . the woman dlivered a baby boy and he was such a greedy boy who immediately started crying to be fed. Tonya stood there waiting to see how that would be done . he needed brest feeding and fanya would have the woman breatfeed the baby. Tonya then objected to this saying if that is to happen he needs to be paid each time the baby suckles. His claim was for a life animal on each singular occasion. Fanya protested and even tried to get the elders to be on his side but failed . So he accepted hoping that he will be the winner in this case. Anyway this kid was like i said very greedy and at the rate that he suckled the animals soon became finish on fanya's side . The child was still ravenous and tonya insisted on being paid for the feeding. in the end fanya had to give tonya the woman and then the kid to own them as his. The moral of this story is that the truth may be trampled upon for along time by lies but in the end it truimphs. with this i say we will survive this calumny that we are suffereing in Dear mother Gambia. Please country men and women do not give up hope cheers and lon long live THE GAMBIA

Greetings all, Give it back to The Gambian people by transferring the RVH to Kanilai together with modern clinics for Diabetes, Tuberculosis, Sexual Transmitted Diseases, and HIV/AIDS with trained staff.

NO more stepping over patients on the floor approaching death, dying without dignity because you lack few dalsis. For the acutely ill NO more having to get up at 5am and try to find transport to ensure they can get an allocated ticket at the MRC, if they are lucky enough to live in the city area or have the funds.

Uplift, and get a complete training programme in situ for adults and mobilise The Red Cross to where it belongs ‘ committed to helping the most vunerable Relocate Red Cross to Kanili together with a basic clean serviceable ambulance organisation. No more paper exercises or lip service. Find some stashed money in a ‘ make believe account somewhere’ and use it to give a reliable and initially FREE public transport service to & from the hospital & clinics in Kanilai.

The rooms in Kanili are large enough to hold very large clinics. Trained staff would have to be provided by help from others outside to work alongside Gambian staff as training and equipment has long been forgotten, whilst new offices have gone up in abundance and show no commercial success.

All this before it is taken over by another hotel consortium for the rich.

Freedom & peace, sab.

Is Kanilai geographically, economically , and or strategically located to explain it's transformation into a commercial town ?
Or , is Kanilai's transformation merely being pushed by Jammeh's personal(nepotism) and political fantasies ?
Would Kanilai's geographic location enable it's modern structures survive after Jammeh ?
