This is a clean start from all the distractions and please don't let anything distract you from the real issues. posting reproduced below:

I meant to follow up on this press statement fellow Bantaba folks...

Our people are faced with so many challenges while many of us are fortunate to be in a position where we can earn a decent living and also be able to help our immediate families.

However, in light of continuous oppression of our citizens and rampant imprisonment of innocent citizens, GPU USA & STGDP saw the need to lead the struggle and put words into action.

We are reaching out to all Gambians and friends of the Gambia with conscience to help out the families of Jailed or disappeared Journalists and other innocent Gambians.

GPU USA in collaboration with our colleagues in the UK have been contributing to a fund that has gone a long way to help the Chief Manneh Family. See more about it....

http://www.gainako.com/news/news/2009/08/25/gpu-usa-sends-more-money-to-chief-manneh-family.html

Now we are setting up a permanent media fund that will go towards helping other families like chief manneh's.

We already have two people pledge $1,000 and $500 respectively to kick off this drive. We urge all who can to please consider contributing to this humanitarian gesture. We thought it would be helpful to set up some kind of a monthly contribution or any form say perform towards these funds.

Information on where and how to contribute can be obtained through the GPU treasurer as outlined on the press release. Please remember $10 a month can help a child eat before they go to bed...

We look forward to your support and the struggle moves from talking about it to doing something to make a difference..

Thanks for your kindness in advance...

Dbaldeh, thanks for taking the initiative to help your fellow journalists. This is indeed a commendable gesture; decent Gambians will slowly but surely unite to take a stand against APRC. It may seem impossible to unite Gambians for a just cause but Rome was not built in one day.

Halifa Sallah once said the future of the Gambia rest in the hands of her decent citizens who cannot be bought.

God gave men dominion over the beasts and not over his fellow men unless they submit of their own free will. - Napoleon

Terangba... I probably need to borrow your terang for a minute....

Anyway, inaction in the face of heighten brutality and abuse against our people is inconceivable. As citizens we have a moral responsibility to do our part in whatever small way we can to make the plight of our people better. If we can touch on a single life and give them hope again, that is a good start.

What we cannot affort is to allow a single person (Jammeh) aided by so called supporters who directly or indirectly are benefiting from his corrupt regime distract us from helping the weak and most vulnerable in our society.

Whether we do something or not, there is an innocent child tonight who is deprived of love and comfort of his/her parents because of Jammeh's quest to remain in Power.

Whether we do something or not, there are hundreds of children dying of Cerebral Malaria due to lack of access to basic healthcare needs.

Whether we do something or not there is hundreds of babies born premature and left out to die for lack of access to incubators or basic medical care.

Whether we do something or not Jammeh is emptying our national coffers like they are his Fathers and giving them out to foreign countries.

I can go on and on and on..... but I don't think it is helpful to just point of the flaws. I think it is better to act and do something no matter how small to impact someone's life.

We all have the duty and the moral obligation to step up to the plate... If we don't then we are in denial and are betraying those who need us the most...

It is these lies Chinese shoe ,why you get the brunt of it. You people are self perpectuating individuals and every thing is calculated ...................................Peace
