The so called July 22 anthem authored by Juma K. Camara, will never be sung by me. The only anthem that I and any patriotic Gambian knows is:
For The Gambia, our homeland We strive and work and pray, That all may live in unity, Freedom and peace each day. Let justice guide our actions Towards the common good, And join our diverse peoples To prove man's brotherhood. We pledge our firm allegiance, Our promise we renew; Keep us, great God of nations, To The Gambia ever true.
God works in mysterious ways and one day we shall be free from this evil cloud that has hung over the Gambia since July 22nd, 1994.
May God bless our nation and her people.

I cannot explain but I can speculate. I will bet you that the intention is to replace it with this sham of an anthem. February 18th has already taken a back seat with celebrations being held at Arch 22 instead of at independence square. I need not say more... We have a megalomaniac (A psychopathological condition characterized by delusional fantasies of wealth, power, or omnipotence") of a so called leader and I cannot put it past him to replace our national anthem to add credence to his theft of our freedom and pride. It is time we rise up and say enough is enough! It is time we take back control and put Gambia's future back on track period! Our complacency has caused this tyranny to go on for far too long. It's time to end it! Lets rally the troops and I don't mean militarily, there is strength in the populace to bring about lasting peaceful change to our nation of diverse people. Whether you are a supporter of this regime or not, you must truly look within and agree that things are not right in what was once the smiling coast of Africa.
The coast is crying people. Lets stand up and say hell no to dictatorship, lets say no to tyranny, lets say no to Jammeh, lets say yes to democracy lets say yes to freedom and peace.

| Thanks bro Dalton and to add salt to insult, i am told that the new Athem was sang at the celebration more than the National athem, this is ridiculous. |

Does anyone have the new so called National Anthem? What is made by man can also be broken by man. When Jammeh goes the New July 22nd Anthem goes as well.
It is sad that these bunch of folks don't know the significants of history. It is a terrible thing to waste a human brain.

| I am disgusted and ashamed of this man [and his clones] to even call him my president. Surely he doesn't know the significance of the national anthem we all know. Our parents and grand parents suffered and died to get gambian independence from the claws of Britain. Just to enhance his own ego, this man seems to think that he can change history. He really should be ashamed of hiself and I would say nothing more than this. Even his supporters if they honestly look inside themselves, they would know that he has crossed the line. If it wasn't the seriousness of this man's activities, I would be bored talking about him. |
