Toubab you might not be a Gambian or Bissau Guinean but the fact remains that you are a citizen of the world , it being now considered as a small village due to globalization and the web etc, I see no reason why you should not be concerned and make such comments as you deem fit. I can only add that on a personal level I do believe that Yayha Jammeh does have an interest in what happens in that country as well as in Casamance, some may try to link that to a desire allegedly of his ; to have control over those areas but that can only be conjecture as without concrete proof of that allegation one should give him the benefit of the doubt and trust that he has no ulterior motives but purely humanitarian ones ; to wit the desire to secure for that country ,a degree of legitimacy and peaceful environment which could ensure the emergence of a stable and viable government . That statement notwithstanding it seems very odd that he would be offering such peaceful initiatives to the Bissau Guineans and get very belligerent towards his own local opponents; this serves to cause suspicion on his intentions and as the Mandinka say clean your own farm before doing that of your neighbor(wandi koonkoo senoo eatabeh nyankaring!)
"Guinea Bissau is at the moment at a crossroads. If its neighbours abandon it at this moment of its greatest need, it will veer off down the path of death, destruction and doom, which would have a spillover effects on its neighbours, whether or not they like it."
NOTE THE LAST SENTENCE OF THE SNIPET. Common sense is prevailing at last, lets hope it maintains its strong hold.
