“Nadd is an Umbrella Party”, says Nadd’s Flag bearer.

Nadd’s flag bearer, and prospective president for the third republic, His Excellency Hon. Halifa Sallah, yester evening hailed moves taken by Gambians at home and abroad, while addressing a group of STGDP fundraisers in Minnesota, on a telephone conference.

His Excellency Hon. Sallah noted that Gambians at home and abroad are beginning to be in charge of their destiny. “It is amazing to see the youths discuss politics. Then, politics used to be for politicians and elders.” he said. His Excellency Hon. Sallah noted that Nadd is an umbrella Party, and that it will be there for only five years. He called on all Gambians to embark on the “10-10-10” factor in getting people involved in fundraisers, just like the Gambian youths calling themselves “Militants” are currently doing in the Gambia, moving door to door, attaya camps, sensitizing their friends, neighbors and family members on the need for a alternative Government, that is Nadd.

In another development, His Excellency Hon. Sallah noted that a Nadd Government will empower Gambians and Africans as a whole. He advised Africans to desist from backward thinking, as Africa has all the potentials of producing its own food and living in peace, and that the journey to get us there is a collective responsibility. “Our liberation requires the emancipation of our people. Power must be derived from the consent of the people.” His Excellency Hon. Sallah noted.

“ Africa should have a common identity and destiny.”, His Excellency further noted, and that a Nadd Government will enhance a common passport notably an AU identity, also Africans must never be aliens in their own continent. In another brief angle, His Excellency Hon. Sallah was very critical against politics of violence, immaturity, and where people are not in charge of their destiny.

When His Excellency Hon. Sallah was quizzed as to what the opposition is doing currently in making sure that they all come together as one to remove the incumbent President Jammeh, he said it requires the opposition to respect each other and avoid making derogatory comments to one and other. In another question from a floor member regarding the vacant assembly seat in Kombo East constituency, His Excellency noted that they have been approached by the people of the said constituency to make sure that the opposition put in only one candidate, and that both NADD and the UDP/NRP coalitions are engaged, and that they respect the wish of the people. His Excellency Hon. Sallah clearly indicated out that he will drag Jammeh to a presidential debate, in answering another question from the floor.

Other speakers at the program all emphasized the need to continue on the good job of unification, and raising funds to help support Nadd, notably Miss Christine Sakuna, Local Coordinator, STGDP local chapter who was quoted as saying “I want a change for the Gambia.” Miss Sakuna also revealed to the gathering that Hon. Omar A Jallow will be visiting the US on June 3rd, and His Excellency Halifa Sallah will be on his US tour in July. According to Miss Sakuna, STGDP’s achievements are tremendous, and that included the hosting of Hon. Ousanou Darboe, then of Nadd, His Excellency Hon Halifa Sallah, Voices of the Diasporas, and the sponsoring of Nadd in the last by-elections.

Mr. Saul Njie in his part called on Gambians in other states and countries to emulate what Minnosota Local Chapter is doing, and that very soon we will all see the difference.

The program that started at 4’ o clock pm went through 9’o clock pm, was well attended by Gambians, Americans, Senegalese, Ghanaians and people of other nationalities. The games competitions titled “Bantaba” included “dam”, tennis, and etc... Was well contested, and all the funds derived from the fundraising will go to Nadd’s welfare.
