How recent? I think the last time I watched this video was around 1989 1990 (some 19-20 years ago)....

"...Verily, in the remembrance of Allâh do hearts find rest..." Sura Al-Rad (Chapter 13, Verse 28)

...Gambian by birth, Muslim by the grace of Allah...

I dont want to be specific for obvious reasons. However i will give atleast two clues to show that its is recent

1. Mr. Joof is in the video was there in his capacity as Director of National Council for Arts and Culture and that was not 19 years ago. He lives in Brikama. His younger brother is probabaly the only Gamabian trained Optician in private practice and operates not only in the gambia but Guinea Bissau.

2. The gentle man with the glasses sitting beside an elderly man in green i believe is Bakary fatty who used to be Agricultural Reporter on GRTS. He had HDA in Agriculture. About 19 years ago, he was in school. Bakary is from Kombo Jambur if my memory serves me right. If you watch GRTS, you must have seen him interviewing the President on his farm in Kanilai. He is dressed in white.

Like the mandinka say: NING KO CHAA, JULO MAA

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always.”

Kondorong, I believe Mansasulu is referring to the Janjagbureh cultural festival video which is from the 1980s.You are right about the second video from the recent(November 2008) kora festival.

Thanks Gainde. I am indeed referring to the Janjambureh festival. I almost question my sanity since I dont want to step on the toes of our resident historian...haha! My bad, i should have been clearer.

Mansa

I am not the resident historian. At some poit, i was also questioning my own sanity. I guess we were referring to two different videos. Communication is very essential.

I am sorry if i caused the confusion.
