IS THIS THE DIBBA I KNEW? I DON'T THINK THIS MAN IS HIMSELF ANY MORE!!! JUST LOOK AT THIS STORY ... VERY DISSAPOINTING!!!!

From Gambia Daily Observer

Sheriff Dibba meets President Jammeh
Written by Chief Ebrima B Manneh
Friday, 21 April 2006
Mr Sheriff Mustapha Dibba, the former Speaker of the National Assembly, yesterday called on President Yahya Jammeh at State House to renew his loyalty and allegiance to him and his government.

Speaking at the occasion, President Jammeh said sometimes both pleasant and unpleasant things happen but he has faith in Almighty Allah, emphasising that human beings are governed by the might of Amighty Allah. He noted that what happened on March 21 was unfortunate, but he has already taken it in good faith.

According to him, when he appointed Mr Dibba as the Speaker of the National Assembly, he knew that he was from the opposition, but he nonetheless appointed him because the country belongs to every Gambian - whether opposition or not, they have a duty and a role to play. He disclosed that he has no hard feelings against Mr Dibba, saying that God will always be on the side of whoever has a clean heart and a clear conscience. He maintained that he would not like to infringe on the rights of any innocent person.

President Jammeh said he does not dislike the opposition but he is against tribalists and self-centred people who do not wish the country well. He noted that a genuine opposition is part and parcel of any living society. According to him, tribalism is not part of democracy because it is a recipe for chaos. He warned Gambians to beware of tribalists who hide behind democracy to propagate their idealogy of hate.

Sheriff Dibba, for his part, thanked the President for giving him the opportunity to meet him to renew his loyalty, noting that his conscience is clear and that he believes in democracy where people elect a government on their own free-will. He added that he will never support a coup, which is why he was among the people who condemned the abortive coup. Mr Dibba asserted that he joined the government not because he was hungry for position, but to contribute to the development of the country. According to him, he cherished the four years he served as the Speaker of the National Assembly.

For her part, Vice President Dr Ajaratou Isatou Njie-Saidy thanked the former Speaker for having the courage to meet the President to reaffirm his allegiance to him. She urged all Gambians to work hand in hand with the government, regardless of their political affiliations.

If jammeh believes that the country belongs to every Gambian, why then did he say that he will hand over power to anyone? This guy is so contradictory. It seems that he cant remember what he said in the past.

He is not real hence his irony. It is better to go back to school. Perhaps more education could reform him for his own good. jammeh go back to your last week's speech and revisit the nonsense you said.

For goodness sake leave us alone.

A drowning man catches anything. When people sell their pride and dignity for a prize next to nothing, they are best watched.

Sheriff is a disgrace. He presided over as Speaker many anomalies and kept quiet. The man is power hungry and will do any thing to become president. That was why he did not condemn the coup in 1994 hoping that the army will hand over to him. To his suprised his party was banned. can you rememeber when yankuba told him that he was over aged and that they will need to count his teeth to ascertain his age.

He has forgotten all that harsh words yankuba threw at him and bent over backwards to yaya. There are rumours that he was paid 3million dalasis not to contest the elections and form an alliance with APRC. What ever the truth is, he has disgraced himself and to go Satehouse and offer allegiance to someone who has trampled on your rights, is slavery.

I am not sure if he has the conscience to face his people and political constituency. Sheriff's party will die with him just as the party of Sheriff Ceesay. We have to build sytems that can last well beyond us. But that is only done by people who are unselfish. NCP is Sheriff and nothing more. The party has no structure capable of outliving him. An advice for many to avoid.

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always.”

Sheriff Dibba's meeting with Jammeh to express his loyalty is unnecessary and disgraceful.Dibba has clearly alienated himself by apparently giving up his constitutional rights to Jammeh.
I think he might as well abandon the opposition and join the ranks of Yankuba Touray , Bajo , and Jatoumatta J. Ceesay.

Honestly I think some people do not even consult their families before engaging into something. Sheriff as a father, uncle, granpa etc I expect should probably did not consult with his family.

You cannot go back to an unhuman individual that has disgraced you in such a manner begging for forgiveness with the blessing of your family. No wonder some people are so desperate that they can do any demunising thing.

These are the kinds of individuals that make yaya think that he possesses some spiritual powers to control the world.

Taalibeh.

Most members of their families encourage them because they also reap the benefit of statesmanship.

The dreamed of cars and travelling possibilities including scholarships for the young ones.

These people, just like Lamin Saho before them are just being exposed by their own evil deeds. They never thought that people would discover their evil nature but time is going nowhere it is we hunmanbeings who come and go.

Dibba has been hidding for too long. There are many more lurking behind the curtains of the opposition but Insha Allaahu they shall be exposed now or in the near future.

Biraago, I cannot imagine in any way where sheriff's sons and daughters in particular would have given him the blessing to meet yaya any more in his life after so blatantly disgracing him like this.

Perhaps he is guilty of something otherwise I cannot see any reason going back to jammeh to renew his allegiance. Renew loyalty for what?

This is very sad. The reality is there are thousands of SM Dibbas in Gambia. How can in 1 day a PPP in power for 30 years be dismantled? Where did Jammeh derive his power from, to a point that he has an iron grip on all of us?
Peace.
