During the 19070s, the Danish Government is said to have offered 20 scholarships to the former Gambian Government every year. Nonetheless, the Gambian public was never informed and the chance was never utilised. Most probably the Gambian officials responsible did not have close relatives or children to send at the time and unfortunately, the Danish Scholarships were then re-directed to other countries in East and Southern Africa.
Here is another chance for individuals if this proposal goes through the parliament. ------------------
Free education for two years’ work
Elite students from across the globe should be able to get a free education in Denmark if they agree to work in the country for two years. Denmark’s Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Helge Sander (Lib) is proposing that elite students from across the world should be able to receive training in Denmark free, if they agree to work for at least two years in the country. The proposal is designed to attract highly educated employees and international competences for Danish companies, according to Berlingske Business.
Business on board Sander says it would be a good idea to introduce study grants for the best students from, for example, China and the United States, and that grants and the choice of students should be determined in a cooperation between the state and industry. Before putting his proposal to Parliament, Sander will be contacting business organisations to develop the best type of grant system.
