They throw missiles Aiming to hurt Caring not who is hit In this mad game Singing nonchalantly
"Sossalaso so Mingda bijeh so Mingda tejeh so Ka bebung kew ; so"
Little urchins out to play End the joys of the free outdoors Bullies paradise Hemming in the weaker kids Who suffer and grin Showing false bravado Hurting to the core
Elders sat at the bantaba Watch unconcerned As pain is dished out Blood sports and cruel deeds Testing they say a child's will To withstand stress and all Sossalaso sang at the bantaba Heralds the dawn of thuggery Mastered today in other seats Getting hit whether a party or not While the world watches Without feelings of any kind The weak most suffer Till they can stand up for themselves Or die under duress
Hear the song sang Sossalaso so Mingda bijeh so Mingda tejeh so Ka bebung kew so! As brutish kids hit hide Caring not who is hurt Kids will have to play That is the way it is That was the way it was From time immemorial

interesting kani. some will disagree with you, the way you analyse the game (sosolaso). it a game of fit kids and strong will. sometimes boys have to be boys. SM Dibba did make use of the statement to mean , when people stand passive and allow a missnorma to continue happening, all will be affected at the end. sosolaso is a game for the tough and rough, and trust me, village girls use to like the roughest boys winning all the time. It is like Rockby kaani. |

| Santa you went straight on to the thing bothering me, that is what SM Dibba was talking about.I agree that it was a game for the rough and tough but does it make it fair for the weak who perhaps would have preferred to be left out. The bigger picture though is my lament about the unnecessary suffering which people in diverse places undergo whilst others keep mute especially on the international fora, only speaking up when things flare up to a full scale disaster. I am of the believe that this is a very serious matter and that many wars and conflicts could have been averted had the international community stood up and challenged the causes well before they escalate . |

| Indeed Kaani, you are very right in asking that question. Remember, many gambians will allow the events taking place to continue simply, they are not affect personally. in fact that is against the Islam many hides behind. great poem, abarakah |
