I've just heard this on the bbc news.
The boats were over crowded with no life saving equipment.
It is so sad. |

Its heartbreaking, people just want a better life for themselves and their famlies
"Libyan media report that among the dead was an African woman found lifelessly clutching an infant to her bosom, says the BBC's Rana Jawad in Tripoli"

God will never come from the sky and give us handout. We must earn our living and having responsive leaders will reduce the flow of young Africans to "Babylon". The lack of hope for the future is the greatest stimulus for this migration. As Colin Powel said" Hope is force multiplier".
Africa is not poor in resources but we are poor in being there for each other. We are poor in having leaders who work for the common good. Our political philosophy is based on the principle that leaders should only practice virtue if they so wished. They are not required to and that inequality is a necessary and acceptable condition of our social fabric.
So let them practice virtue if they wish and let these men continue to wallow in hell. Change cannot come through outside help. African have to realise that, for their countries to develop, they must themselves be the agents of change. Running away to "babylon", will not solve the problem,. As Bob Marley said "He who fights and runs away, leads to fight another day".
It’s just a temporary fix. Until Africans face their own problems and bring about the changes they desire, we are not going anywhere but to the mass graves that the Atlantic has now become for our children.
"Babylon"(Europe) had to fight for all we see over there. It took revolutions to achieve it. From the slaughter at Leipzig, to the French Revolution to the retreat from Moscow, Europe is full of events and social upheavals for the betterment of the common person and doing away with patronage.
Africa will be no exception. Until we each take on causes far greater than ourselves, our greatest contribution to civilisation is and will be the exportation of refugees that has become synonymous with that continent.

| Excellent post. |
diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |
