Can any one help please? I am trying to get a flight from Banjul to UK for my Wife and 16month Daughter, on the last Manchester Flight on 24th April. I have been quoted £410 for my Wife and £60 for my Daughter. The quote was from Gambia Experience. When i tried Thomas Cook and Thompson, they said they dont do one way from Gambia to UK!!Does anyone on Bantaba have any advice for me to try to reduce costs? Maybe if my Wife enquired from Gambia?

Could they get an open return? Some companies do three months and six months....

Hi, I think you can buy one-way tickets via the Dutch site Travelpoort (they do have an English language option on their site, by the way). Then you'd just need flights from Amsterdam to the UK .... would probably work out cheaper though!

Hope this helps :-)

Thanks for the advice, the "long term" return ticket would not really be worthwhile, as when we all go back in Oct./Nov. for 2 weeks, they will again be going back to Uk, for there first experience of Winter

to be honest i would just book a cheap package and not use the hotel/accomodation part, it could work out cheaper.

I dont think you will get cheaper, even companys like span air are not so cheap not only that unless your wife is traveling with hand luggage getting from any European destination using a 'low-cost' airline is not going to be cheap the adds on for luggage etc etc will boost the cost.

Thats without the more often than not changes in flights your family may be left stranded for hours.

Not sure if you have sorted this out yet, but I have booked one way Gambia to UK from Thomas cook before now.

You can book online with Thomas cook or www.avro.co.uk. Alternatively try the Thomas cook office (located on the road opposite Gaya restaurant, you can get the number from any of the hotel reps noticeboards). I have found Avro to be the cheapest.

Hi Denise,
Avro doesn't give the facility to enable you to book at ticket from Banjul to the UK online, and in fact most airlines won't allow people with a Gambian passport to book one way tickets from Banjul to the UK either. The last flight for this years Tourist Season returns to the UK on 30/4/09. Another option people can consider is to buy a standby ticket but its best to enquire about their availability when you're actually booking a one way flight to Banjul. Stand By tickets are cheaper and can save you money.

Peace
