The Vulture Shriveled like an old man Wearing a wet cloak Soaked in black dye With sharp beady eyes Aquiline beak and crude claws Weapons of his trade
Huge glider up in the sky Scanning every where for food No fluttering wings Smooth operator Missing nothing dead on the ground Sighting of which Makes it swoop to claim his prize
Maa tells me they do not die That when they live up to a ripe old age They go into hiding In any nest up the big old baobab tree Shedding off all their feathers To be transformed into Into new born baby vultures A new life once again Not needing to hunt or kill But live on freebies
The vulture always looks old But I have yet to see a dead one All other creatures die To feed the vulture So he lives for ever The secret of his longevity Lie here

Bro Kani;
The vulture is an interesting bird to examine. In context, it could be that scavenger bird. As soon as I saw the vulture thread, it reminded me about my own representation of the vulture in this forum, and I go “wait a minute sir!” It can be that useful bird as well. When an old cow doesn’t show up….as we go into the bushes to search and see whether it collapsed somewhere and died, the vulture has always served as a hint by flying sky-high in that neighborhood. The vulture poem is true to its setting.

Do you happen to know the reptile called “Gundoh” in pullar? Its skin is used on fiddles together with the hair-strings from the horse, and it forms the little drum supporting the melody sound of the strings during fiddling. It is believed that when you see “Gundoh” in the bushes, you don’t chase around hard to get it….all you say is “Gundoh B’uub-b’uub! Gundoh b’uub-b’uub!” and it will lay down for you to kill and skin. I think if your poetry represents the strings of horses’ tail, I will be that “gundoh” skin giving you the echo and melody beatings you need all the time…inshallahu Rabih! quote:
“…surely one not to be missed on a daily basis, please do not go into hibernation for too long but when ever you have time…”
During busiest times, I peep in and scan quickly. There are certain things that need to be completed and tackled at certain times. With that in mind, it is sometimes good to take breaks and balance out life errands. I was with Mawdo Demba about a week ago, discussing about restructuring the design of Gainako. The archive has grown big. This work should all be well preserved for our future generations. Once work is completed, your poetry shall be promoted as the entire editorial team Okays any of your bashings. The true struggle is about togetherness and promoting positive agendas.
& thanks for your concern always.
