I see my people smile
The smile of ancient times
Walking the peaceful beaches as lovers
Some even brave the waves
To bathe and swim
Nearby lie others in harmonious bliss
Under shades from the kind sun
A picture of joy for ever

I hear my people laugh
Not the half hearted kind
But a hearty one from self worthy souls
No longer afraid to hope
For joy , peace and prosperity
No longer afraid of speaking their minds
Without suffering all kinds of misery
From an unkind sovereign overlord

I see my people walk free
Of shackles what ever they were
The ones that bound their free will and hope
The ones that threaten their lives and joy
The ones that make them check their words
The ones that sent their kids to an early grave
The ones that separated husbands and wives
The ones that made little children orphans
Walking free from what they feared before

That dream is a sweet dream
I do not want to wake up
From that deep slumber
Till I see my dream come true
On that day I shall sing
Songs of praise to my Lord
Happy that my people
Are free at last
Until then let me keep dreaming
So do not wake me up from my slumber

Even Dr. King jnr, famously known for his "I have a dream" couldn't have pictured it better. From this poem, it moved readers straight to believing that there is indeed hope for the bettermen. It talks about different groups; one in full control of hostage, and the other struggling to be free from the strings of oppression. Even the Quran said: "After every hardship is relief. " The poem carried me to verses of the Quran, which are structured in a similar way.

The poem is very touching. also, hope-giving.

amen! amen! amen!!

"There is no god but Allah (SWT); and Muhammad (SAW)is His last messenger." shahadah. Fear & Worship Allah (SWT) Alone! (:

Alas brother, that hope and dream may be all we can get. The world seems to have forgotten that we are living in such misery and so why not dream and in that surreal world live a happy life ; the world others take for granted and called Utopia. Thanks for your comments
