Greetings earthlings, it's been a long time posting and I hope all is well with each and every one of you.
My reason for posting is to ask: are there any events happening between the 5th and 12th of December?
This will be my 7th visit and I haven't seen the stone circles yet, so this time its priority as I'm not sure if I'll be coming back to Gambia after this visit. I'm moving so far away it would make getting there a logistical nightmare so I want to make the most of Gambia's culture for what looks like my last 7 days as a humble and appreciative guest.
If anyone has any information on football matches, village celebrations or anything carnival I would be so great full to hear your suggestions.

Thank you in advance everyone and thank you for threads shared in times gone by under the old format

nokia man, sorry to hear that you might not visit for a while,
BUT PLEASE VISIT THE STONE CIRCLES, get yourself to northbank and haggle the taxis to take you, the landscape and housing is amazing, it is so relaxing.
not sure if you have been to a football match, but try to get to one. gambians are passionate about the game.
GO TO CHURCH OR MOSQUE and leave some spiritual thoughts.
DO you support any family/school/project close the loose ends.
DID YOU MAKE FRIENDS WITH ANY BUMSTERS, leave them your clothes. BUY lots of wood carvings/materials etc to take with you as a reminder of happy times. IF YOU ARE BUYING THEM, TRY TO GET THEM FROM THE VILLAGERS, TAKE A MILLION PICTURES.
DO YOU HAVE ANY CONTACTS THERE, take in many naming ceremonies, weddings etc.

ENJOY. [

Thanks Jambo, any idea on what's a reasonable price to the stone circles from the north shore ferry?

I'll also look up and see if there's any football matches on but I won't be buying any more wood carvings etc as I have enough.
I also don't sponsor anyone but I have support the blind school with equipment and another charity over the years. I prefer to get supplies there than cash so I know the equipment is there!

Right. Off to look at what's on at the stadium!

hi nokia man, we travelled to north bank and then paid for a one way trip to armitage and stopped off at the stones THEN ON TO ARIMATAGe.
we then returned via farrenfeni. you can do it in one day, but if you are going with someone else they should be on your timescal, i used a guide i have known for years and we make early starts, trying to cath the first ferry crossing.
car from farrafeni is 200dls per peron seven seat and is quick, you can make a tax bargain from a frafenni to the stones, keep the driver and come back to farrafeni. happy travelling
