Its really sad to see people that call them selves children of the Gambia, supposedly born and raised being so unpatriotic. The fact is I will clear the air once again for all to hear before i proceed. I am in no way speaking on behalf of the APRC, I dont subscribe to the party ,don't wanna work for the party but what i will do is discredit all these cyber prostitutes trying, and hell bent on sowing the seeds of deceit to accomplish their goals. You will fail drastically for most of ya'll are uninformed and a bunch of cyber prostitute anyways.

First you lied against your countries claiming political asylum when you damn well knew nobody was after you. Which one of you cyber asswipes dare tell me Jammeh was after you the reason for migrating to the west. Not you Pa Nderry, Matthew Baldeh ,EG Sankareh, Sarjo Bayan, Jawara Ma, and the rest of ya'll village fools and please don't make me start calling your name Bokarr Sey.

Pa Nderry was it not you that Had the breaking news that Jawara Ma one of your so called editors wanted you to write a recommendation so that he can get his green card since he worked with the FREEDOM BLOG. My question to you is this why would you smear his image just because he made a statement saying he is no longer affiliated with FREEDOM Blog.

You guys are like fish in a tank with no food eventually ya'll gonna start eating each other . You made sure his intentions were known yet you also applied for political asylum when you damn knew no one was after you. You low lifes are willing to lie against your countries and give up your citizenships yet you still wanna sit in North Carolina and tell us My state house sources , My Nia sources , You have no sources and your stories are inaccurate Pa Nderry.

Mathew Baldeh you guys aint nothing but goddamn liars ,Parasites and a bunch of opportunist. I told you i will be back to prove you wrong for the deliberate inaccurate nonsense ya'll been diseminating. First of all this was the sequence of events as they unfolded during the student strikes The students set tyres alight, Government offices were broken into, Lots of vehicles were burnt down including police stations, post offices and buildings belonging to GRTS even the independent electoral commission was badly damaged.

It was total chaos and there was actually no law and order since the students were actually chasing the police. you can respond anytime you feel i have my facts wrong. The demonstration was to protest against the alleged torture and murder of a student by FIRE FIGHTERS and please note "FIREFIGHTERS". How did the student end up at the fire fighting station Brothers? would you care to explain the chain of events as they unfolded. It was meant to be a peaceful march but it degenerated into violence. Please don't make it sound like it was an peaceful protest protest. The students eventually started ransacking private properties and looting bro.

They may have fired on the demonstrators, but lets keep things in perspective how many African countries have the measures in place to curb strikes and avoid situations like this. What we should be saying as Gambians is what are we gonna do to make sure this never happens again. The fact is the Gambia Students Union was denied a permit for the protest against the death of a high school student,and the reported rape of a 13-year-old girl by "a police officer".

When the students started gathering they were ordered to disperse, rubber bullets were fired at them and tear gas, yet they later regrouped, setting up barricades with burning tires in the streets stoning the cops. It's pretty apparent that at this point they were fired upon with live ammunition and thats exactly what happened.

The students succeeded in almost overthrowing the government, only one problem there was no leader.A few students were arrested in the aftermath for burning down One of Gamtels branches. Do you realize how much havoc and destruction was involved.

How would you have handled this situation ? and also take note Jammeh was out of the country when all this took place he was at a summit. All am saying is don't blame the security failures on Jammeh bros it won't be fair at all.

This is what our neighbours in Cameeroun go through bro http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/low/africa/5072552.stm help youselves out and familiarize yourselves with whats going on in your continent we need to train our police officers and military personell better for now we settle for what we have. check out the strike in cameroun and the trend will be obvious.

Secondly Matthew i am aware of the facts surrounding the demise of the former director of NIA Pa jallow, would appreciate it if you would take him off your stupid list he died of natural causes nothing is suspicious about his death he succumbed to something that does'nt kill you overnight so please get himm off that propaganda list. I will be back tommorow to finish up with you

So is Mr sanyang get him off your list too . Pretty soon i gaurantee you, you gonna end up listless................................................................Peace

Moe,
You may be trying to get to the facts but you taken a very narrow route. Please remember there are still bleeding hearts out there mourning these victims. They're voiceless, powerless and intimidated citizens who are still lookings for true answers from Jammeh's regime regarding this incident. So please be carefull bro.

I totally agree Karl but inorder to make a clear determination we have to be able to address issues as they occurred. As emotional as it may be i personally think it's pathetic that a series of unfortunate events are being used by Pathological liars and kleptomaniacs to forward their sick and twisted fantasies. http://www.thegambiaecho.com/Homepage/tabid/36/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/1316/Default.aspx. I hope they add my grandmothers name because she also died mysteriously even though she was sick for a while.................................................................Peace

As an outsider looking in and not being a Gambian this is a very worrying long list of people that have been murdered or disapeared as stated in The Gambian Echo
SO WHAT DID HAPPEN TO THESE PEOPLE?
I think both sides puting there aguments forward are as bad as one an other as it appears no one realy knows. From both sides where is your prove of what did or in fact didnt happen to these people.

Also my question is does freedom of speach exist in Gambia

It appears to me that if you say ANYTHING negative about Gambia all hell breaks lose and some people think the sun shines out of the backside of Gambia. All countries have their skeletons and negative aspects

Thanks Moe; interesting perspective.
I have more questions than answers

April 10 and 11 Student Strike
“When the students started gathering they were ordered to disperse, rubber bullets were fired at them and tear gas, yet they later regrouped, setting up barricades with burning tires in the streets stoning the cops. It's pretty apparent that at this point they were fired upon with live ammunition and that’s exactly what happened.”

There are many ways to disperse a “student gathering”, firing at them as a last resort seems desperate. Which one came first, the firing or the burning of tires?
Who provoked what?
Was it the “rubber bullet” that provoked the students or the other way round the students provoked the rubber-bullet shootings?
Were their claims false, if not were they resolved?

False asylum
You are making very grave accusations the consequences of which need not be said.
Can you share the confidentialities that made you come to that conclusion?

The villager characteristic
You have been using the aspect derogatively, without elaborating on how and why. Are villagers not equally Gambians, why the negativity towards the village and villagers, or rightly said what do you have against villagers. Or is the whole thing a joke?

What am narrating to you is from unbiased opinions of what perspired. I was not there and there is no denial that it was chaotic. I know Janko you are trying to get the best out of me but alrite i will tell you what i personally think happened.

It's really hard for me to believe that they had rubber bullets in the first place but it's not to be discounted. This is Africa we are talking about i doubt at the time they had stacks of rubber bullets. I think they may have fired live rounds to scare the crowd which didn't work and finally they resorted to the infamous killings. This is what i think happened unless someone can come up with something more tangible.

The fact remains that it was totally out of control and like you rightly stated other measures could have been taken which i totally agree, yet this is The Gambia Police force and military we are talking about, i doubt it had a complete overhaul at the time. If you ever had to file a report chances are you wrote your own report.

Whether the shootings were justifiable well lets leave that for the top echelons to answer "The security Chiefs" if the need ever arose am not a POPO.

I came to the assumption from my experiences i see people on a daily basis cutting up newspaper clippings and getting recommendations from prominent people recommending them for Asylum. Most of these fools are not wanted in Gambia, never been sought after,their lives are not in danger yet why would they wanna file for asylum when the are clearly breaking the law on a daily basis to legitimize their cause .

Its not easy but if you don't believe in a certain system what you need to do is figure out what you can do to change it in a legal way . Convince the people and tell them why they should believe ya and if it's a law it can be amended.

C'mon now you know i ain't got nothing but love for my village boys.I like to play with their emotions they my kin

Thanks Moe,

“C'mon now you know i ain't got nothing but love for my village boys. I like to play with their emotions they my kin”

That reminds me of a man standing in front of Yaya Ceesay in his office, at the ministry of agriculture telling him to go back to Jarra and continue his father’s legacy.

The man asked;
- Are you Lang Sunnas son (“sunno” is a variety of sorghum) Yaya said he was.
- No doubt there is shortage of sunno because Lang Sunnas son is sitting behind an office table pushing pen and not hoe, your father was well known for growing sunno in the whole of Jarra, said the man.
Yaya called on the guard and asked why he let this madman in and that he should take him out. Before the madman left the office he said;
- The bird that flies and flies and flies until it is airborne is called the weaverbird.
- I am going to blow my horn for the whole of Jarra to go home.
- The weaverbirds are aggressive and in abundance and eating up the harvest of farmers because there is nobody left to chase them from the rice field.
- The trees are overgrown because there is no need for hoe handles hence all the youth are pushing wheelbarrows in Banjul. He looked at Yaya and before he could comment Yaya´s cloths, Yaya yelled;
- Take this madman out of my office…

Janko,Can you please tell me the moral of that story ;thanks. I just want to add that trying to defend or justify the killing of poor unarmed students as it stands is callous and in my opinion done by such individuals who did not suffer loss of a dear one thereby. We are all Gambians , human beings . Cutting short the lives of protesting students is indefensible.I was a witness to such a callous statement by one man who was shouting that the children should be shot, apparently his own son got shot and died as a result. He had a smacking reminder that wishing others children harm might be a prayer answered against his own as it did.I love Gambia and those who advocate for such blind love have no more love for it than I, perhaps they have their own stilted way of perceiving this love and so any one who sees it different from them is seen as a Gambia hater. I swear by the Almighty God that I love my home land Gambia so dearly and am willing to die for it.But I hate to see my people being so badly treated as they were; a factual occurence ,which cannot be forgotten at all.

Mr. Moe,
You said that that you were not there on april 10 and 11 and what you wrote is you opinion on how you assumed things went, right??? We all have a different opinion and assunption on what happened on those days and if we all write what we think, no one will ever get the truth.. I think we should let the people who witnessed the incidents enlighten us. You do not belive the stories written by the press and they were there, do you really expect us to believe your assumptions?????? And finally, young people lost theri lives, some one lost a daughter, a son, a sister, a brother, a cousine, a father ect. Lets all respect that, do not make it sound like they lost their livis in vain or that they brought it on themselves.... A human life is worth more than that
