Anything positive goping on at home. We need fresh air as we are suffocating here.

People are still going to gambia, maybe in small numbers but every little bit helps. If the turists/ toubabs stop then gambia will suffer financially. It is good the tour operators are still planning to have gambia in their brochures.

jambo why do u keep mentioning things as if the tourists are gonna pull out or shouldnt have gambia in their brouchures?

Gambia is a proven holiday destination especially during our winter months. People have been holidaying in Gambia for many years, next season will see an increase not a decline as some major tour companies such as my travel will be using 4 uk airports to fly from same as gambia experience. This can only increase the amount of holidaymakers in the gambia.

So i think the future as far as tourists in the gambia are concerned is looking good.

This is true at the moment. But if there is political uncertainty ( another coup)this could change overnight.

But the chances of that happening are very slim, Gambia is one of the calmest parts of Africa when it comes to political unrest.

So best to be positive rather than wait for something that might never happen.

Personally i am not convinced there was a coup attempt recently.

babygirl not sure when i mentioned that the tourist would pull out. Can you tell me which forum that it was if fact i thought that i had mentioned that another tour company mytravel was introducing gambia to there brochure. My concern is this if gambia tourist board does not take on board the competition from other african destinations onthe west coast gambia could suffer. not sure if you know this but ghana has put together a great holiday brochure. Nigeria is launching a new tourism plan, and they have Virgin atlantic flying.
As for a coup i do not believe it every happened, but do believe something policital happened.

Another good news from hoe is that the elections were conducted in a peceful atmosphere. Congratulations to the APRC and more homework for the opposition. Junkung is credited for the low intimidation if any. I am not sure if i saw any of that in the papers. It is a good start and we hope we see the same level of maturity in November.

LONG LIVE DEMOCRACY IN THE GAMBIA
