The dirty business with the Coltan (Columbite-tantalite) Of Congo, or we better said a world accursed treasure! A boy at one of village in Remote areas of mountain in eastern Congo (Zaire) being ask about his age and where about the parents “I am 15 years”, call the dust-covered boy. The small one beside him maybe even younger, both have cracked brawny hands and in their eyes are nothing more to read from an unabashed childhood. They plod in the Coltan mines in Congo. Where is your parent? Replied “I‘ve no idea” (you may suggest where they should be) A lady that taken of them, and other of hopeless children and women who also don’t what happen to their relatives replies,” some one told me some week back that he shows the boys father at mining areas, working for the rebels, here every one have complicated storeis which will blow an heart apart, she said. Coltan, a metal which the world craves because each mobile phone needs it their enterprise, however it is available only in Australian and Africa, and these are not enough for the hungry industries. For one it is a treasure and for the others is a curse. Some part (most) of this metal which the world industry craves is filed with blood. In the hard to travel mountains chop, the eastern Congo men, young people and children from the kalkigen soil. If they have luck, they can resell the valuable Coltan at dealers. But usually the rebels, who finance thereby their bloody fight against the government, get themselves deeply in. Who cannot work any longer, because the graft in the stifling heat leached out him, simply cuts off the head or be shot, And the man who is the god father of this area is General Laurent Kunda the rebels’ leader. Covering him self there at far in bush. Shockingly General. That regards himself as a modern Robin Hood, an envoy of God. No word to the slave work in the mines, no word over the fact that his people kidnapping women/children into these mines and to torment there and let’s abuse. The wickedly rebels use to go after the women/girls at all different ages systemically, not only(if I may say so) satisfies their need but scattering the whole families apart.. If one is lucky will came back to their family but most don’t.
The illegal ways from the forests also shows the smuggled “black gold”, out to Asia, Europe and the US, exposes the dealers. None admits to act with Coltan but he discovered it in hidden camps. Example though Sabina airline Or even through UN helicopter! .Companies such as Sony, Samsung, Motorola and all the other Handy producers know that Coltan is a metal, at the blood stick, which demands daily human lives. But they do not undertake anything; they buy the far desired metal of dubious dealers, particularly in Belgium, then far to the China for the factories that belongs to the Western world, just that the smallest children on other side of sun can get mobilely.this is just merry-go-round business with human blood, is this respect for the life of other, what about the so call human right, and whom to blame?. Bro Mbay this cycle of vicious traders who depend on minerals like Coltan ,diamonds and others which they procure from war torn countries infested with greedy blood thirsty warlords are so inhuman. They;the manufacturers, just like the said warlords are responsible for the continued hardship of the poor children . It saddens me that we all use mobile phones and the realization that they are made from materials that are mined by people who are subjected to such brutalities makes me feel guilty of contributing to the problem.I never knew that this was the case and i believe there are millions in the same group as me. I cannot stop using a mobile phone but I join all other persons in condemning the dastardly misuse of human beings in the said process and hope that the manufacturers take note of the fact that they are now exposed, as opposed to when they were doing their dirty deeds under cover as it were.Shame on them |

It is real disturbing, A humanitarian disaster on the worst label, some are saying:"Hey, These are perhaps ten people making their profits with that (bloody…), so when it comes out, will not be that big. this is a 100s of Million Dollar business”.
Internationally the Rescue Committee speaks in a respectable study of 2.5 million dead ones between August 1998 and April 2001 due to the war. And even after all these years the Collaboration with the occupying power make it even worst. The world views are in other areas while the investors assume calmly on a long-term basis give no alternative to the crew, working thoroughly in a Mafioso way. The UN document of Congo (S/2001/357) means nothing for these people. The Human Rights Watch, where there should be more hope are concentrating particularly on search and the public-effective reporting of violations of human rights. Main objective of the organization is prevention of social or sex-referred discrimination, corruption in governments and abuse of national force (e.g. torture, solitary confinement). That’s why i just don’t know if I’ve get angry or laugh when heard from them and some politicians a., „free war zone“Which is a fatalistic idea, but who is implementing it, and even at the end you will find them taking a diner with this rootless viper’s. So long we are not concentrating on some issues like, Meeting and dialogue, fair Play, peace movement, peace education, sending educator in conflict and crisis zones, force against children, Global acting, constructional treatment of conflicts, conscientious objection, nuclear weapons and its problems, security policy, stereotype, prejudices, concepts of the enemy, terrorist attacks, and yes even a war-force toys, but most impotently is the civil courage, because those leading us have lost every morality of human.

Mbay, thank you for naming these terrible crimes. Fortunately I am not a mobile addict. My phone is three years old and because I know about the problems coltane is bringing to the people I'll use it until it is completely wrecked. I don't need the latest model which makes photos, plays music, checks my e-mails, makes coffee, and mends my socks. I need a mobile phone for calls and text messages, and that's it. |

I wish there would be more ideas as yours, (which is impossible right now) Sadly indeed, that most of consumers don’t know what is going on around us, everything getting manipulated.
