high energy prices are here to stay, and this is particularly worrying for us developing countries.
but we can start by changing our own habits, 14-passenger vans should be discouraged in favour of buses, which carry more people and the fares should be cheaper and there will be less congestion are taxi parks!!
i suppose if it cost D8 to get 14 people to Banjul it should cost D3 to get 35 passengers on a bus to Banjul.
but i hardly see buses on the banjul serrekunda highway.
those with cars should also give a ride to those who dont have, especially after work from Banjul-to the Kombos.
Our Area Councils can learn from what cities like London, Stockholm etc have done with congestion charges to encourage mass public tranport.
but very important questions indeed. |
