toubab, i didn't watch the vedio but is it about the gay debate among the anglican church? there is a possibility of revolt by the traditionalist among the church. i mean i cannot understand why a clargy would be gay and wish to lead a congregation? this is controversial. |

There are MANY unmarried men within the church of England. Some have achieved high office (eg the last arch bishop of York). Some may be gay and quiet about it. Some may be straight but choose to be single. Unless they speak out about it or we see them commiting a sex act how are we to know? It is between them and their God.
Many gay men in the church are gay but DONT act on it. IE are celibate.
The whole issue causes alot of organisational conflict within the church.
It also causes alot of personal turmoil for the individual gay people. Many commit suicide. It is very sad.
If the church is compassionate I think it should accept anyone that wants to belong to it.
If a gay man has the conviction to be part of the clergy he should be allowed to follow that path. There are many many closet gays in the church who are hiding their sexuality. So whats the different. Just being more open and honest! |

| I find it extremely hard to comprehend why one would like to belong to a club one is not welcomed. Some people these days have no dignity / pride. Besides, I dont think the Church has the right to preach morality. Considering the level of child abuse; hypocrite gays [oh yes! there are some]; preachers of unsafe sex - especially the Catholic branch of christianity;deniers of a woman's choice to abort no matter what the cause - even rape or incest etc, within this divided institution. Tony Blair should have got rid of all of them who sit the the House of Lords passing laws that affect me - with their backward hypocritical opinions. A waste of space if you ask me. |
