Perhaps no one ever went there.....
Never even heard of it, are you sure you mean Kanali - or are you curious what Kanilai is like?

i went to kanali, it is very calm, peaceful, well manicured everything clean, it felt like the gambian answer to the stepford town. Everyone was polite and helpful. it seems a well laid out place, space for all, I do not remember seeing anything run down, it might have been there but I did not see it.
I was there for a day trip.

I went there, Just as Jambo points out, A very fair and beautiful place. I use to be there before yahayas time, and i always felt that the people there are broadminded.

Never mind, sometimes you are just a bit simple.........(which is not necessarily bad).
Kanilai is a nice, clean place - the people seem to be better off there. We once had lunch in a very luxurious lodge there (forgot the name, something starting with S i think) and we were the only guests. It was all very beautiful and quiet and we had 5 waiters around our table almost fighting over who could replace the ashtray after we dropped a minuscule quantity of ash in there or who could refill our glasses. I am always very happy when my Gambian partner is being treated with the same type of courtesy as i am (which is not always the case in hotels or restaurants in the coastal area, where they will call me 'boss lady' :-( and him 'bro', never mind who's paying the bill). Anyway, it's a nice place to stop when you are travelling upcountry - a little bit like an 'oasis'. We drove by the presidential palace, and though there were armed soldiers there the whole atmosphere was rather relaxed. Perhaps this has changed, i am talking 2005.
